Dad gets 2 years in prison for neglect; 11-month-old shot through the hand while under his "care" (Toledo, Ohio)
Dad MARIO D. WALKER has been sentenced to 2 years in prison for child neglect; his 11-month-old son was somehow shot through the hand while under his "care." Personally, I'm having trouble believing that a child who was less than a year in age could have pulled the trigger himself.

Father gets 2 years for neglect of baby
A 29-year-old Toledo father was sentenced to two years in prison yesterday after pleading in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to a charge that he neglected his young son, who was shot through the hand while in his care.
Mario D. Walker, Sr., of 2730 Parkwood Ave. pleaded no contest to child endangering with a gun specification. Judge Frederick McDonald sentenced him to one year in prison for the endangering charge and one year for the gun specification. The sentence is to be served consecutively to any sentence resulting from charges he faces in Sandusky County.
Authorities said Walker was with then-11-month-old Marveil Walker about 7 p.m. July 2 when his girlfriend, Sheveil Roberts, heard a gunshot. Ms. Roberts, the boy's mother, said she found Marveil bleeding from a gunshot wound in his palm.
The incident occurred at 2441 North Detroit Ave. Ms. Roberts called 911.
Judge McDonald ordered that the gun be destroyed.
