Police standoff with dad ends peacefully; dad had been keeping child from mother (Austin, Texas)
UNNAMED DAD apparently thinks it's okay to take your child hostage in a SWAT standoff with local police because you're an abuser/control freak who won't let the child go to the mother. Children need this?

SWAT standoff ends peacefully
Austin police said a SWAT standoff in which a man was keeping his infant from the child's mother in a South Austin apartment ended peacefully Sunday morning.
Officer Dennis Farris said police were called to the Estates at Southpark Meadows apartments about 9:30 p.m. Saturday after a report that the father of an infant was holding the child in the apartment and would not let the mother inside. The mother and father both lived in the apartment, Farris said. The man might have been suicidal, Farris said, and there was a report that there might be firearms in the apartment.
After a four-hour SWAT team negotiation, the man surrendered peacefully about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, and the infant was turned over to the mother, Farris said.
The man was being evaluated Sunday morning, Farris said. No charges had been filed, he said, and the investigation was ongoing.
The infant was not harmed and appeared to have slept through most of the standoff, Farris said.
