Dad who assaulted mom, kidnapped son released on bail (Kingsford, Australia)

According to police, UNNAMED DAD punched, kicked, and head butted the mother of his child before kidnapping his 23-month-old son. He's charged with assault and breaching two AVOs. Not surprisingly, he's in a custody battle with the mother. And, of course, he and his enabler family are playing up that dad is the true victim. Dad isn't violent? Delusion--what an amazing thing....

A father accused of snatching his son from Kingsford on Sunday says he just wanted his mother to see her grandson.

The kidnapping of a 23-month-old-boy from his Kingsford home came as a result of an intense battle for custody of the child.

The boy's father snatched him after he was denied access to the child, because his estranged partner believed he was drunk on the last visit.

According to police facts tendered in Waverley local court the man punched, kicked and head butted the women three times before fleeing with the toddler.

The incident sparked a frantic search for the boy with police monitoring airports and ports and the boy's mother publicly appealing for the child to be returned.

Police pleaded with the boy's father to leave the child at a church or with the local salvation branch of the army if he was too scared to go to a police station.

The boy was taken to Bondi Police Station 22 hours later after negotiations between police and lawyers acting for the child's estranged parents.

The boy's father was charged with assault and breaching two AVO's.

But the 33 year old insists he's the victim, denying he was violent.

He claims he simply wanted his interstate mother to see her grandson.

On leaving court today he made a brief statement to the media."Four words, I love my boy," he said.

He's been granted conditional bail and will reappear in court next month.
