A FATHER who was caught travelling at more than 110mph with his young daughter in the car will be forced to re-sit his driving test after admitting speeding on the A12.

Paul Redling, of Lincoln Avenue, Saxmundham, was before South East Suffolk Magistrates' Court in Ipswich yesterday afternoon. He pleaded guilty to travelling at 114mph on the north bound stretch of the A12 at Pettistree earlier this year.

Redling, 29, was driving a P registration Vauxhall Senator when he was pulled over by police around 8.15pm on June 1, the court heard.

His five-year-old daughter was also in the car.

Magistrates were told that when the officer showed the speed reading to the defendant the 29-year-old made no reply.

In his defence yesterday Redling - who is within the first two years of passing his test - admitted that he was driving at an “excessively stupid speed.”

He also said he would find if difficult if banned from the roads because he has a disabled partner.

He declined to comment further.

Magistrates ordered Redling to pay a £100 fine, £46 costs and a £15 victim surcharge as well as adding six penalty points to his driving licence.

It means he will now be forced to return to learner status and re-sit both his theory and practical driving tests because a license is automatically revoked if you build up six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test.
