Babysitting dad sleeps in till 10:30 AM, baby in critical condition (Fort Worth, Texas)

This UNNAMED DAD from Texas doesn't seem to have schizophrenia, psychosis, or any other mental malady. He just didn't feel like getting up after the children's mother left for work. Dad apparently does not realize--or doesn't care--that you can't sleep in till 10:30 in the morning when you a have an unsupervised 2-year-old in the house. Stuff happens.

8-month-old Fort Worth girl found unresponsive in bathtub

FORT WORTH — An 8-month-old girl is in critical condition after being found unresponsive in the bathtub of a north Fort Worth home this morning.

Sgt. Pedro Criado, police spokesman, said a preliminary investigation shows the girl’s 2-year-old brother may have been playing with the girl or trying to give her a bath while their father slept.

Criado said the children’s mother had gone to work earlier Friday morning, leaving the children asleep with their father, who had been up late the previous night. He said the father discovered his unresponsive daughter after being awakened by his son about 10:30 a.m.

“He is soaking wet. The dad puts two and two together and runs in the bathroom where the tub is overflowing with 2 inches of water on the floor and the 8-month-old is floating in the bathtub,” Criado said.

Criado said another adult relative may have been inside the residence in the 3200 block of N.W. 28th Street at the time of the near-drowning but had also been asleep.

Police are investigating the incident.
