Dad leaves 1-year-old in truck alone while Dad goes to bar (Minneapolis, Minnesota)

UNNAMED DAD wasn't going to let his 1-year-old son cut into his drinking and social life. When a bouncer threw him out of the bar for bringing in the child, Dad simply took the little boy out to the truck. The child was returned to a "relative." So was this Mom? Or do we have a single dad here?

A 33-year-old Twin Cities man was in jail after he left his 1-year-old son alone in a truck while he drank at a bar, police said Sunday.

The father walked into Champion's Sports Bar and Grill in the 100 block of W. Lake Street in Minneapolis on Friday with his son, said Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer. A bouncer and an off-duty Minneapolis police officer working security at the bar told him he couldn't bring a child into the establishment.

The man left and returned about 30 minutes later without his son, Palmer said.

The officer got suspicious and checked the parking lot, where he found the boy in a pickup as the man drank in the bar, Palmer said.

Police arrested the man on suspicion of child endangerment. His son was released unharmed to a relative.
