SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Deputies said that a Cowpens man broke the leg of his girlfriend’s 18-month-old daughter.
Deputies said they were called to Mary Black Hospital on Wednesday after a nurse said that she noticed signs of abuse on a baby girl who was brought to the emergency room. The nurse told investigators that the girl had suffered a broken left femur and bruises to her left leg and face.
The girl’s mother told investigators that she had left her two children with her boyfriend, 21-year-old Joshua Kimbrell, when the girl was injured.
Kimbrell told investigators that the girl’s brother had pushed her off the couch and that she hit the coffee table.
Investigators said that in a separate interview Kimbrell admitted to breaking the girl’s leg and leaving bruises on her leg and face.
Kimbrell was charged with unlawful abuse or neglect of a child. He was being held at the Spartanburg County Detention Center on $5,000 bond.
