DAYTON, Ohio -- A local father was arrested early this morning, July 23, after deputies say he left his five young children home alone while he went to a bar.
Gary Rodgers, 43, is in jail on child endangering charges. Even worse, deputies said Rodger's twin 2-year-olds were found on the floor of a locked room filled with plaster, dried feces, and urine.
The children were found after the oldest, a 10-year-old girl, called her grandmother because she was scared, according to WHIO-TV. The woman said she was so horrified by conditions in the home that she called authorities.
Deputies said Rodgers was arrested after he returned to his home in the 5400 block of School Drive around 4 a.m. Rodgers had left to go to a bar and was intoxicated when he returned, according to the police report.
The children were released to the custody of their grandmother.
Rodgers remains in the Montgomery County Jail on $25,000 bond.
