A Clarksville man was arrested Wednesday and charged with abusing a toddler using a belt.

Jeffrey Lavon Hambrick, 44, who gave a 337 Lake Court Drive address, was charged with one count of child abuse/neglect. His bond was set at $50,000.

According to an arrest warrant signed by Officer R Del Gorno, on Wednesday at about 6:15 p.m., Hambrick allegedly attempted to discipline his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter for not using the toilet.

The toddler was allegedly struck across the back and both thighs with a belt, the warrant said.

Gorno wrote he saw four welts on the toddler’s back that lead from the buttock to the he shoulder blade and the skin on the child’s buttock and thigh was broken.

Hambrick is set to have a General Sessions trial on July 29 at 1:30 p.m.
