Dad tries to rape daughter's friend during sleepover (Warwick, Rhode Island)

Dad RICHARD MAROLD has been arrested for attempted rape of his daughter's 13-year-old friend, who had been staying at the house on a sleepover. Turns out that Dad has a history of sexual assault arrests.

A child attacked in the middle of the night, sleeping at a friend's home. Prosecutors say the friend's father lured the girl into the basement and tried to assault her. He was supposed to be arraigned today in court, but never made it.

Richard Marold is accused of trying to rape his daughter's 13 year old friend by luring her into the basement.

Neighbors tell ABC6 they heard shouting coming from 251 Long Street late last night, today word spread of Marold's arrest, leaving homeowners on edge.

It turns out Marold's wife called police and may have stopped the attack. Major Michael Babula says the 54 year old is now facing a number of charges.

A criminal information search reveals Marold was arrested for sexual assault back in 1996. As for the latest charges, Marold was supposed to be arraigned at Kent County Courthouse. But instead, authorities brought him to the hospital after being deemed suicidal.
