Babysitting boyfriend ANTHONY PARKER is accused of murdering a 19-month-old child last January.
Reno man arrested for infant's murder, six months after child's death
A Reno man is behind bars and charged with murder after a six-month investigation into the death of a 19-month old child. Detectives arrested Anthony Parker, 39, on Thursday saying he killed his girlfriend's child. Police say they responded to a call of an injured child at 2095 McCloud Avenue in Reno on Jan. 30, 2009. They say Parker told them he was home alone with the child when he slipped and the child fell. The child was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Robbery/Homicide Unit and the Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Unit questioned Parker, and detectives say his story was inconsistent with the child's injuries. Detectives collected evidence over the last six months, and on Thursday, a judge issued a warrant for Parker's arrest. He later turned himself into police.
Charges against Parker include murder in the first degree, murder in the second degree and child neglect causing substantial bodily harm. His bail is set at $750,000.
