PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man is facing child abuse charges after his four-month-old son suffered a seizure and was rushed to Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
The doctor who examined the child notified police of possible abuse. Investigators questioned the father, Jhon Pino, and charged him with first-degree child abuse, police confirmed for Eyewitness News.
According to the initial police report, the baby’s mother told police the child appeared to be fine when she left her apartment last Thursday at 8 a.m. However, at 9:30 a.m. she received a call that her son had been rushed to the hospital. The mother told police she had no idea how her baby was hurt.
According to the report, Pino initially told police he did not know how the baby was injured. However, after a detective used a teddy bear to demonstrate how an injury like the one the victim sustained happens, Pino broke down in tears.
“Oh my God, I think I hurt my baby,” Pino is quoted in the report. “I was trying to comfort the baby and was holding the baby sideways on my knee and he went into a seizure.”
The child’s condition was unknown as of Tuesday morning.

A father is in jail and his daughter in the hospital after Lexington Police say he shook the four-month-old. Darnell Tagaloa is charged with criminal abuse.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A father is in jail and his daughter in the hospital after Lexington Police say he shook the four-month-old. It's a disturbing case that a Lexington child care center says didn't have to happen.
"We offer free child care," said Jenny Norman, the child care director at The Nest in Lexington. "So if you need a break, all you have to do is just call us and no matter what we are going to make spots."
After hearing about this case involving Darnell Tagaloa, 27, of Lexington and his four-month-old daughter, The Nest is pushing parents to get help from them. An arrest citation states he shook his baby at his home on Kenesaw Drive on Sunday because she wouldn't stop crying.
"Your heart breaks a little for this little one because we want people to know that we're here to help in those situations," said Norman.
That infant is now suffering with severe head injuries, and the father is in jail with a first degree criminal abuse charge.
"Children are resilient to a point, but it's just so hard," said Norman. "We see it day in and day out. It affects the way they play. It affects the way they sleep. It affects they're learning. It's just a constant struggle."
This center even has a temporary program that's free of charge where you can drop off your kids if you feel overwhelmed and need some weight off your shoulders.
"Every time we see it or we have to get involved in it, it just breaks our hearts," said Norman. "Children are the most precious gifts that we have."
So their number one mission at The Nest is to prevent child abuse by being proactive and hopefully stopping cases like this from happening.
As far as we know, that baby is still being treated at UK Hospital.
Tagaloa pleaded not guilty in court on Thursday. His preliminary hearing is set for October 2.

Dads, uncles are top violators in cases of child sexual abuse (Mumbai, India)
This is pretty much consistent with every other study on child sexual abuse.

Child sexual abuse: When home is no safe haven
Sunday, 28 September 2014 - 7:00am IST | Agency: DNA Kranti Vibhute
Contrary to their image as protectors, fathers and uncles have emerged as the top violators in cases of child sexual abuse, a study by NGO Arpan has revealed. The organisation evaluated newspaper reports on such cases over the period between 2007 and 2011 and found that in 64 per cent of accused were by father or stepfather.
At 17 per cent, uncles sit on the second spot. According to Arpan's findings, maximum crimes were committed at the victim's own home – the figure stood at 27.4, while other familiar spots such as school, tuitions and neighbourhood comprised 56.6 per cent.
The study solely focuses on Mumbai edition of four national newspapers. The researchers collected 1,711 newspaper reports on child sexual abuse (CSA). Fathers turned monsters in 56.63 per cent cases, while stepfathers were accused in 7.43 per cent cases. Grandfathers too figures in the survey though the figure was less than one per cent.
Seema Hingorani, clinical psychologist and trauma expert, said, "I completely agree that a lot of crimes happen at home. I have many young adults who were sexually abused as kids and are still undergoing trauma. They tell me the perpetrator was their grandfather, uncle and domestic help, watchman, driver or cook."
She said the figure about father could be true as it might pertain to upper middle class and middle class. "Parents need to be more aware where they are sending a child and make every possible efforts to question the child."
Arundhati Chavan, president of United Forum, shared similar sentiments. "Parents have shared such stories with us. There is a need for regular awareness programmes for children on their safety."

Sunday, September 28, 2014
CHICAGO (WLS) -- A woman and young girl are found murdered in a Northwest Side home Sunday. The victims were discovered in a home in the 3400 block of North Odell after the man, believed to be the woman's husband and the child's father, was arrested in far north suburban Waukegan.
Dunning neighborhood residents were out all Sunday night, still in disbelief that a man could allegedly kill his own 7-year-old daughter. Not all family members were killed. The man did flee to Waukegan with his 2-year-old daughter, who is now with relatives.
Chicago Police detectives spent much of the day inside the first floor of the two-unit Northwest Side home. Detectives also made their way up to Waukegan, where police in the northern suburb received a 9-1-1 call Sunday morning about a suicidal man who told his father he had just killed his family members in Chicago.
After a wellbeing check, police found a woman and a 7-year-old girl murdered.
Speaking through an interpreter, the suspect and the victim's Polish-speaking landlord, who lives in the basement of the home, talked about what he heard Saturday night.
"If I heard any screaming or yelling I would call police right away," Antoni Panek said. "If I heard anything, it was a thump."
Panek says the thump sounded like a chair falling. He says the man, woman and two children were his tenants for the past six years. While Panek did not hear screaming Saturday night, he says the couple was known to fight with each other and at him.
"The couple argued a lot and whenever he made a comment they would attack him," Panek said.
Neighbors say they also heard arguments in the past.
"We have heard them argue," neighbor Patti Witucki said. "I know a couple times there police were here for a domestic, but nothing on this level."
Along with the adult female and the 7-year-old girl, the family's pets, a dog and cat, were also killed. The suspect fled to Waukegan with his 2-year-old daughter. Police found the man in his father's backyard with a knife to his throat. After shooting him twice with a stun gun, the suspect dropped the knife and was taken into custody.
Back in the Northwest neighborhood, neighbors remain in shock, especially since they just saw the suspect and his family taking a stroll around the block Saturday afternoon.
"Who kills their little own daughter? I just feel sick and like I want to cry," Witucki said.
Neighbors said the neighborhood has always been known as a very safe and quiet area.
The Medical Examiner has not released the names of the victims and the suspect is still in custody in Waukegan.

NORWALK — A city man was formally sentenced to seven years in prison Friday at Stamford Superior Court for shaking his 3-month-old infant daughter to death.
Justin Smith, 31, of 8 Highland Court, had accepted a plea deal in May after nearly taking his case to trial. He pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and risk of injury to a minor in exchange for a sentence of seven years in prison and five years of probation. He also has to perform 100 hours of community service for each year of his probation, undergo mental health and substance abuse treatment and attend parenting classes should he choose to father another child.
A first-degree assault charge was dropped in exchange for the plea.
Hugging and kissing family members before approaching the court, Smith did not exercise his right to speak at sentencing. His mother Suzanne Kipphut said her son is still mourning the loss of his daughter, who died in what she called a “terrible, terrible accident.”
Smith’s attorney Eugene Riccio said Smith’s family is still trying to heal after the child’s death and called the disposition “a fair sentence.”
“The death of an infant is an immeasurable tragedy,” he said.
Detectives from the Youth Bureau of the Norwalk Police Department began investigating the suspected child abuse case after being informed that Hailey had been admitted to Stamford Hospital with serious injuries on July 27, 2011, police said. Investigators soon learned that Hailey had also been admitted to the hospital July 2 with a skull fracture.
Smith told investigators, family members and friends that the family dog, a boxer weighing an estimated 80 to 100 pounds, had accidentally caused the July 2 skull fracture, police said. Smith claimed that the dog had been sleeping with him on the foldout couch bed, and Hailey had been sleeping on the floor on a nesting pillow for infants, police said.
He claimed the dog leapt off of the bed and landed on the baby's head, police said. Detectives interviewed Smith at his residence and noted that the family dog was "friendly and non-aggressive," according to the affidavit.
Smith initially told police that the child's second skull fracture happened after the child projectile vomited while Smith was feeding her, the affidavit states. He said he panicked and may have used too much force when he placed the child on the ground, according to police.
The child's mother, who has not been charged in connection with the case, reported that she was sleeping when the alleged incident occurred, and she was awoken by a loud "bang," according to the affidavit. Smith explained that he made the noise when he accidently kicked a piece of furniture, police said.
The accident occurred at 10 p.m. on July 26, but the child was not admitted to the hospital until 10:30 p.m. on July 27, court documents show. The child was finally taken to the hospital after a visitor held the child and noticed that the baby "kind of plopped against her chest," court documents show. The visitor influenced the child's mother to take the child to the hospital, police said.
As the investigation progressed and detectives probed Smith's story, they found several inconsistencies, and witnesses said that Smith had told them different stories to explain the child's injury, according to the affidavit. Smith also changed his story during follow-up interviews, telling investigators that the baby rolled off of his lap, police said.
One witness said that she saw Smith handle the child "in a rough manner," the affidavit alleges.
Several witnesses told police that Smith was a frequent cocaine user, and at least one witness said that Smith may have been under the influence on the night that the child's skull was fractured, police said. Detectives found out that Smith "acts wild" when under the influence of cocaine, and he did not handle the infant carefully, police said.
Smith also allegedly made incriminating statements while at the hospital, investigators learned.
While Smith was in the hospital, a security guard reported that Smith was crying uncontrollably, and he told the security guard that his child "had brain damage and it was all his fault," the affidavit alleges.
A DCF investigator told detectives that after being informed of Hailey's death, Smith allegedly "kept mumbling, 'Please come back and tell them we didn't do this to you," according to court documents.
Hailey's death was ruled a homicide on Nov. 8, 2011, and the medical examiner said that the baby's death was not caused by a fall, court documents show. In addition to the two skull fractures, the child had hemorrhaging along her spinal column consistent with being shaken, according to State’s Attorney Richard Colangelo, who prosecuted the case.
“Throughout my years as a prosecutor, I’ve handled many of these cases,” Colangelo previously told The Hour. “The injuries that (Smith’s daughter) Haley had could only have come from intentional abuse, based on the examination and review of medical literature. It’s unfortunate that this tragedy happened. The best thing a parent can do when they’re frustrated with their young infant is to put the baby in a crib and walk away.”
Smith was arrested on Nov. 18, 2011 after Detective Michael Murray obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Neighbors say 25-year-old Leo Henry broke into the house a few days back and took several things. He then came back Wednesday night, broke in again, and attacked his ex-fiancée with a knife, while both their young children were inside.
OKLAHOMA CITY - A horrible domestic dispute between a man and his girlfriend leads to her being stabbed, and him being shot by one of her children.
Neighbors say it was an 11-year-old girl who fired the gun.
It all happened just after 4 a.m. Wednesday near SE 89th St. and Bryant at the Burntwood Mobile Home Park. Those who live near the home are very shocked about what happened, but all of them are calling the little girl a hero.
“She saved her mom and her brothers and sisters, she really did,” said Carolyn Marsee, who lives next door to the mobile home where the stabbing and shooting happened.
Neighbors say 25-year-old Leo Henry broke into the house a few days back and took several things. He then came back Wednesday night, broke in again, and attacked his ex-fiancée with a knife, while both their young children were inside. She says the young couple had just moved into this home in July.
“I heard the shots. I heard screaming and yelling,” said Marsee. “And I was just praying that the kids were OK.”
News 9 discovered a protective order was filed a week ago by that mother against Henry. And it wasn't to protect her. It was to protect the children.
“He was mean to the kids,” said Marsee.
“He's a monster. He is a monster,” said her granddaughter Carolyn, who says she is a friend of the mother who was stabbed.
His stepsister still can't believe what happened.
“Never been like this. He's never been violent,” said Emma Spence, who says Henry is her step brother and claims the two are close. “He's always been there. We never thought that this would happen!”
But in the VPO filed Sept. 18, it states Leo Henry's own mother told the fiancée she witnessed Henry sexually molesting one of his children. It also states Henry threatened one of the children, held a gun to her head, and said he would kill her if she didn't keep their secret.
That secret was him taking photographs of her private parts; Disturbing news considering Henry's own father is currently in prison for possession of child pornography.
The mom wrote, “I am afraid he is going to hurt me and the children because I reported the abuse."
Police tell News 9 the young mother was stabbed several times and is pregnant, but is expected to recover from her injuries. Henry is also expected to recover from his injuries. And all the children have been placed in protective custody.
Henry also had another VPO filed against him by another woman back in 2006, but it was dropped.
But if Daddy molested one of the kids WITH A WITNESS and threatened to kill the kid BY PUTTING A GUN TO HER HEAD, then why wasn't he locked up instead of roaming around town violating the protection order filed against him? But another example of abuser daddy coddling by the authorities.
Dad is identified as LEO HENRY.

"Doting dad" convicted of 1st-degree murder of 10-week-old son; admits he repeatedly "bounced" baby on this head (Muskegon, Michigan)
Once again we see that behind every killer dad is an enabler who claims he's a "doting" dad, and nothing was EVER Daddy's fault. Nope, it was his ADD and learning disabilities. It was his reading problems! Next we'll hear how it was his halitosis or the heartbreak of psoriasis.
Fortunately, the jury didn't buy this bullsh**.

Dad convicted of first-degree murder in death of baby boy in Muskegon County
By John S. Hausman on September 25, 2014 at 6:10 PM, updated September 25, 2014 at 6:11 PM
MUSKEGON, MI – In the end, it was a swift verdict for Anthony Casanova: Guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his 10-week-old son Tyler.
Jurors were out barely 45 minutes before coming back with that maximum verdict.
Casanova, his face somber as he stood at the defense table next to Muskegon County Public Defender Fred Johnson, showed no change of expression when the verdict was read just before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25.
But his mother, Darlene Thomas, who testified in his defense earlier in the day, wept audibly in the audience.
Jurors had four possible verdicts to choose from: Not guilty, or guilty of first-degree felony murder, second-degree murder or manslaughter. They chose the top charge.
All jurors declined to comment as they left the jury room after the verdict.
The mandatory sentence is life in prison without chance of parole. Muskegon County 14th Circuit Chief Judge William C. Marietti scheduled sentencing for 9:15 a.m. Oct. 27.
Johnson said Casanova will appeal the verdict.
"We're pleased, obviously, that Tyler got the justice that he so deserved, and I look forward to his killer being sentenced for the rest of his life in prison," Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson said. Hilson, the county's elected prosecutor, handled the case personally from the start.
The jury of six women and six men began deliberating shortly after 3:35 p.m. Sept. 25 and reported they had a verdict before 4:25 p.m. Anthony Casanova was convicted of first degree murder in the death of his 10-week-old son Tyler Casanova on January 4, 2013.
In closing arguments to jurors Thursday afternoon, Hilson and Johnson summed up their cases.
Johnson acknowledged the damage done to the defense by a video of Casanova's interview with a police detective – in which Casanova eventually said he repeatedly "bounced" the baby down head-first on an inflated air mattress and twice squeezed him until his breath stopped -- and testimony by Muskegon County's medical examiner that Tyler's injuries were not consistent with Casanova's original story that he had accidentally fallen on the baby after tripping over his dog.
"That was devastating for the defense," Johnson said of the video. "You heard it, you saw it... And then you heard the medical examiner this morning, and that too was devastating for the defense. I'm not going to try to pull you away from that."
In his closing argument, Johnson never mentioned the dog story, which he put forward as the truth in his opening statement Sept. 23.
Instead, he seemed to be arguing for a compromise verdict – a conviction not of first-degree felony murder, as the prosecution asked, but something less, such as manslaughter or second-degree murder.
Johnson focused on intent. He noted multiple witnesses who testified Casanova loved his children and was good with them.
"The step was made over the line. ... But it wasn't intentional," Johnson said. "What father intends to kill his child?"
Hilson argued for conviction of the maximum possible charge: first-degree felony murder, meaning murder done while committing the felony of first-degree child abuse.
"This is not a manslaughter case," Hilson said.
"You don't get to kill your kid and say you lost it. No way. No way. This man intentionally inflicted these injuries on a defenseless 2-month-old child," Hilson said. "Don't compromise. Find him guilty of felony murder."
Hilson told jurors that, even if they didn't find proof that Casanova intended to kill or do great bodily harm to his son, they must still find him guilty of murder if he "showed a willful and wanton disregard of the likelihood that the natural tendency of his conduct is to cause death or great bodily harm."
Also Thursday afternoon, Tyler's maternal grandmother, Joyce Wagner, the defendant's younger brother Mark Thomas and a day-care provider, Robin Carpenter, all testified they saw nothing abnormal about Tyler when they saw him days before his death.
Earlier Sept. 25, Casanova wept as his mother emotionally told jurors her beliefs about how kind he is, how good with small children, and how prone to be a "people pleaser" who will tell people what they want to hear when he's under pressure.
"You don't get to kill your kid and say you lost it. No way. No way. This man intentionally inflicted these injuries on a defenseless 2-month-old child."
Muskegon County Prosecutor D.J. Hilson
But jurors also heard testimony from Muskegon County's medical examiner, a highly experienced forensic pathologist, that Casanova's baby son's injuries were not consistent with the story Casanova initially told investigators.
Casanova, 41, was convicted of killing Tyler on Jan. 4, 2013. At first he said he tripped over his dog while holding the baby and fell on him, but later during a long police interview said he had "bounced" the crying baby seven or eight times on an inflated air mattress and squeezed him twice in a "bear hug."
Casanova's mother, Darlene Thomas, was the first defense witness. She said her son had learning disabilities, including attention deficit disorder and reading problems.
She said those and a "people pleasing" personality make him prone to tell people what they want to hear when he's under pressure, even if it's a false confession.
Thomas also said Casanova loves children and is a doting father. He and his ex-wife adopted twin special-needs infants who were 2 when Tyler died. She said he had been told he couldn't have biological children and was overjoyed when he learned his girlfriend, Julia Striker, was pregnant with Tyler.
Thomas lives in another state and said she had not seen Casanova after Tyler was born, but that Casanova constantly texted her photographs of Tyler and his adopted children.
Casanova became visibly emotional as his mother testified, wiping his eyes repeatedly and openly crying at some points. Thomas herself wept for several minutes after Johnson was done questioning her and before Hilson began his cross-examination.
Injuries inconsistent with explanation
Earlier Thursday morning, Dr. Joyce deJong, Muskegon County medical examiner, testified for the prosecution about her examination and autopsy of Tyler on Jan. 5, 2013, the day after he died.
She described extensive injuries, including a skull fracture, bleeding between the skull and the brain, bleeding behind the eyes, and bruises, some partially healed, on Tyler's chin, chest and abdomen. The bruises on his body were the size of fingertips – some 25 of them, she said. She said Tyler also had numerous partially healed rib fractures, a lacerated liver, bleeding inside his spleen and a bruised heart.
Her medical conclusion: His death was a homicide caused by "multiple injuries intentionally inflicted by another."
She said the injuries were not consistent with Casanova's original story of accidentally falling on Tyler, crushing him.
Under cross-examination by Johnson, deJong said that even if the older, healing injuries were disregarded, even the fatal head injury alone was not consistent with being crushed by another object. That's because bleeding inside the skull, caused by tearing of tiny veins, is consistent only with a "motion injury," with the baby striking another object while moving.
She also said the bruises on Tyler's body were not consistent with a panicked, untrained person trying to revive a baby using CPR.
Norton Shores Police Detective Lori Sinclair also testified for the prosecution.
Sinclair said she checked the air mattress on which Casanova said he had repeatedly bounced Tyler while sitting on the edge. She said, when compressed, the mattress was very firm, much firmer than an ordinary mattress.
Fortunately, the jury didn't buy this bullsh**.

Dad accused of using cattle prod on 9-year-old daughter (Albuquerque, New Mexico)
Notice that the mother has lost custody though there is no suggestion in this article that she used a cattle prod on any of the children, approved of its usage on the children, or even knew of its usage on the children. Yet another example of how mothers are punished and made responsible for the crimes of fathers. Dad is identified as ELDEN C. BEGAY.

Albuquerque police have arrested a man whose young daughters say he shocked or threatened them and their small dogs with a device he used on horses and bulls and which the manufacturers say is never supposed to be used on humans.
Elden C. Begay faces a charge of child abuse without great bodily harm and a felony charge of extreme cruelty to animals, according to a criminal complaint.
One of the girls, aged 9, told a staffer at Kirtland Elementary School that her father woke her on Aug. 20 with what she called a “horse shocking thing” when she failed to get up, and complained that it still hurt.
A report filed by the state Children, Youth and Families Department identified the father as Elden Begay. An officer with the police Crimes Against Children Unit reviewed the report and interviewed the girl at the school.
The girl told the officer that her father shocked her on the torso after she begged him not to. The girl showed the area where she had been shocked and said it “hurts so freaking bad”, although there was no mark.
Based on the girl’s description the officer thought the device might be a cattle prod.
The officer then talked to the girl’s siblings, aged 8 years and 6 years old, who said they’d seen Begay use the device on their sister. They said he also used it to scare them and other children in the home.
The 8-year-old told the officer that her father and mother used the device on “uncooperative bulls” in Gallup.
A 13-year old sibling told the officer that their father had also shocked the family’s three dogs. “They’re like very tiny … they just cry,” one of the girls said in an interview, according to the complaint.
After speaking with the girls at the school, the officer signed an emergency order placing all of the children in the family into the temporary custody of CYFD. The order included four more he found at the family home in Southeast Albuquerque.
Executing a search warrant, police searched the home on Aug. 22 and found a “Hot Shot” electric livestock prod in the garage. The device was marked with warnings saying “use on livestock only” and “keep away from children.”
The officer contacted the device manufacturer, Miller Manufacturing who informed him that it generates about 9,000 volts. A Miller Manufacturing representative told the officer by email that “Hot Shot” prods should “never be used on a human,” the complaint said.

Family courts reward dad who engaged in "custodial interference" by giving him legal custody of 3-year-old daughter (Richland, Washington)
For the last 20-30 years, the fathers rights folks and moaned and whined about mothers "interfering" in custody matters related to the children they gave birth to. It's pretty evident now that they were never opposed to "interference" in principle, as it is now totally okay for fathers to abscond with the kids in situations involving joint custody AND BE REWARDED FOR IT. Dad is identified as JASON ROBERT SPENCER.

‘Custodial interference’ charge dismissed
Former defendant now has legal custody of 3-year-old daughter
By TERRY SMITH Express Staff Writer
A former Hailey man who was earlier this year charged with “custodial interference,” a felony in Idaho, now has legal custody of his 3-year-old daughter, the child he was accused of illegally taking from her mother.
“I have custody of my child as we speak in the state of Washington,” Jason Robert Spencer, 39, said in a telephone interview Wednesday.
The felony charge against Spencer has now been dismissed by the Blaine County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and a child custody dispute between Spencer and the girl’s mother has been resolved, at least temporarily, in a civil case.
Spencer was charged with the crime of custodial interference in February after Hailey police alleged that he had illegally taken the child out of state. Civil litigation was also started at about that time to determine both parents’ rights and obligations regarding the child.
A civil disposition in the dispute, providing that father and mother share custody of the child, was issued in July after the parties submitted a written agreement to the court.
Spencer said he took custody of the child, with Hailey police aware of the situation, about three weeks ago and took her from Hailey to Richland, Wash., where he now lives.
“According to our court order, she [the mother] must be able to support our child,” Spencer said. “She can’t meet any of the guidelines that are in our court order.”

Convicted pedophile dad granted child access visits after getting out of prison; 17-year-old sexually abused daughter finally commits suicide (Brisbane, Australia)

Sex abuse case reveals family court failings
The Australian September 27, 2014 12:00AM
Trent Dalton Writer, TWAM
Brisbane
THE damning case of a 17-year-old Western Australian girl who took her own life after her father — a convicted pedophile — was granted access visits to his children upon release from prison has inspired a national campaign to address deficiencies in the family courts.
In May last year, Abbey (surname withheld) disclosed to her mother that her father sexually assaulted her repeatedly between the ages of three and seven.
In 2002, Abbey’s father was criminally charged for the sexual assault of Abbey’s best friend, who was eight at the time of her disclosure.
It would take Abbey another decade to disclose that she, too, was assaulted by her father with her best friend on regular sleepovers. In 2005, her father was convicted and sentenced to four years in prison, released on parole after two years. Upon his release, the father was granted access visits with his children by the Family Court of Western Australia.
Court-ordered contact with her father left a pre-teen Abbey deeply confused, said her mother, seeding the anorexia and self-harm that plagued her teens.
“In my attempts to protect my children, I was treated as a hysterical woman by the Family Court, even though [the father] had been charged with child sexual offences at the time,” Abbey’s mother said. “I was made to look like a vindictive wife instead of what I was, a protective mother.”
In December 2010, Abbey penned a letter to her father begging him to acknowledge his abuse.
“I cannot believe that my own father would lie to me for my whole life and just pretend like everything is OK,” she wrote.
“I will not wait any longer for my psychopathic father to tell the truth, I have already given you more than 10 years … I can’t think of anyone who hasn’t been destroyed by your lies.”
Upon her disclosure, Abbey was assessed by police and Western Australia’s Department of Child Protection, who later sent a letter to Abbey’s mother stating:
“The investigation has found that there are reasonable grounds to conclude that Abbey has been harmed and it is likely that [Abbey’s younger sister] has been harmed. “The investigation has also considered who may have harmed Abbey. The department has assessed that [Abbey’s father] has harmed Abbey and is at risk of harming [Abbey’s younger sister] if they were to have unsupervised contact.”
That letter, however, was sent 10 days after Abbey’s death.
“I am very upset this letter came after Abbey’s death,” Abbey’s mother told The Weekend Australian. “I believe it would have helped if Abbey had received something like that showing that a person in an official capacity believed her, but nothing came before she took her life. It was very insensitive. The letter did not even acknowledge Abbey’s death.”
The Weekend Australian forwarded a detailed history of Abbey’s mother’s hellish journey through the courts and various government departments to Western Australia’s Minister for Child Protection, Helen Morton.
“My heart goes out to [Abbey’s mother] and her family over what is an incredibly tragic situation,” Ms Morton said. “I was greatly saddened when I was told last year about the circumstances related to Abbey’s death.
“It is through the courage and bravery of people such as [Abbey’s mother] that informed and considered improvements can be made to practices and policies regarding child safety and wellbeing.”
Abbey’s mother called on the West Australian government to launch an inquest into her daughter’s death.
Meanwhile, national child protection advocate Bravehearts has launched Abbey’s Project in her daughter’s name, calling for and currently recording exhaustive statements from Australians who have experienced “instances where deficiencies in the Family Court practices, policies and procedures have resulted in children being assaulted and placed at serious risk of sexual harm”, culminating in a report to be submitted to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Assault.
Bravehearts founder Hetty Johnston hopes Abbey’s Project will kickstart a broader inquiry into the operations of the Family Court of Australia.
“Every week in Australia, the Family Courts are ordering children into contact with, and even into the custody of. parents who are dangerous, toxic and abusive because Family Courts do not have the powers, expertise, and resources to competently investigate allegations of child abuse,” she said.
Abbey’s best friend is now an 18-year-old university student still processing the “agony and confusion” she faced as an eight-year-old trying to convince sceptical authorities of Abbey’s father’s abuse.

Dad charged with capital murder in death of 2-year-old daughter; accused of beating girl to death for soiling her diaper (Fort Bliss, Texas)
Dad is identified as DARTORIOUS GRAHAM. Notice that Mom has been charged with "failure to protect", though she was not at home during the murder. But she was supposed to somehow stop this vicious thug by "reporting" him to the authorities--an often useless even counterproductive strategy, as it the authorities often refuse to prosecute or keep the abuser in jail, leaving the mother vulnerable to violent retaliation. And as we know, this kind of POS is also notoriously successful at getting his custody "rights"--just to spite the mother.
And notice that absentee fathers are virtually never charged with "failure to protect" when an abusive custodial mother harms the kids.

Texas soldier beat his daughter to death because she soiled her diaper
(23 September 2014 20:06)
Dartarious Graham, 20, has been charged with capital murder after his daughter Peyton was found unresponsive with 'suspicious' injuries in his apartment in Fort Bliss, Texas.
A soldier beat his two-year-old daughter to death after he became upset that she had soiled her diaper, police have said.
Dartarious Graham, 20, has been charged with capital murder after his daughter Peyton was found unresponsive with 'suspicious' injuries in his apartment in Fort Bliss, Texas.
Police have also charged Graham's cousin Robert Franklin, 19, for allegedly witnessing the attack and walking away.
Graham, a US army specialist, is said to have become enraged and taken the little girl into his room with a belt.
According to police, Franklin looked through the door and saw Graham beating little Peyton but 'actually walked away while the beating took place.'
Investigators said Franklin told them he heard the child continue to be attacked and then came out of the bedroom.
The pair called 911 in panic when they noticed the child go limp at 4.50pm on Saturday.
Peyton was transported to El Paso Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead an hour later, ABC7 reported.
The child's mother, Elizabeth Graham, 23, who was not home at the time of the incident, has been charged with injury to a child by omission.
Investigators learned the father had a history of beating the child and that the mother had failed to protect her and report the abuse, police said.
All three are being held in El Paso County jail.
Dartarious Graham, whose bail is set at $250,000, could face the death penalty or life without parole if convicted.

Dad in "custody battle" murders mom who successfully hid their 6-month-old daughter in toilet; HIS other daughters from previous relationship were in the home at the time of the murder (Atlanta, Georgia)
I had been aware of this case, but hadn't looked to closely. Sadly, American women and mothers are slaughtered every single day by partners and ex-partners, and it's beyond my capacity to document each one. The only reason the media even took note of this murder is that the mother managed to hide the baby in the toilet--quite literally with her last dying breath-and saved the baby from being shot as well.
But lo and behold, it turns out that this scumbag daddy, ANTONINE DAVIS, was also waging a "custody dispute" against the mother--which is a familiar tactic of violent criminals and abusive fathers.
And guess what? Scumbag daddy also HAD ACCESS TO HIS TWO YOUNG DAUGHTERS FROM A PREVIOUS MARRIAGE. Whether it was merely visitation or joint custody hardly matters, because they were unnecessarily exposed to this father's violence. And it was KNOWN that this father that this father had a history of violence. Who gave him access? The family court? What judge? What is the judge's name?
We are so lucky that scumbag daddy didn't decide to blow the little girls away with his assault rifle as well. Nah, he merely traumatized them for life.
If you needed any more proof that violent criminal men are CODDLED by the family courts, that we've been thoroughly brainwashed into believing that every vicious lowlife sperm donor deserves his "rights" to "his kids"--even babies, this is it.

A mother saved her six-month-old baby with her 'last breath,' sheltering the infant in the toilet after her boyfriend shot her in the head and turned the gun on himself.
Jessica Arrendale, 33, was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head along with Antoine Davis, 30, who police believe shot himself and Arrendale in a murder-suicide in an Atlanta suburb.
Police had surrounded Arrendale's townhouse. When they finally entered the home, they found the baby safe inside and rushed her to the hospital to treat her for hypothermia.
Officers arrived at the home in Smyrna in the early morning hours Sunday, responding to a call that there was someone in the home armed with a gun.
Arrendale's mother, Teresa Ionniello, told WSB Radio that Arrendale and Davis were together the night that Davis became 'belligerently drunk and abusive,' an episode that sadly had happened many times before in their relationship.
Davis chased Arrendale up to the third floor of her home, where Arrendale picked up a baseball bat to defend herself, according to Ionniello, though Davis overpowered her and struck her with the bat.
Arrendale then barricaded herself in the bathroom with their six-month-old, Cobie. Davis went to get his firearm, an assault rifle, from the closet, and it was around this time that police arrived at the home.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that police evacuated nearby homes as a precaution and attempted to make contact with the armed man inside.
When officers made the decision to breach the doors around 1:30 p.m., they found the bodies of Arrendale and Davis, both killed by gunshot wounds to the head, Davis's reportedly self-inflicted.
Cobie was found in the toilet bowl, covered by her mother's body but safe and alive. SWAT officers rushed her to the hospital to treat her for hypothermia.
'She had pure will. She wanted that baby to live,' Ionniello said of her daughter. 'Her last breath was saving the child.' She believes that Davis couldn't see the child in the bowl, and left the bathroom to go into his daughter's room, where he shot himself.
In addition to the couple's five-month-old, Fox 5 reports that Davis's two daughters from a previous marriage, ages 9 and 10, were in the home.
Their mother, Tamaira Chesley, described how one daughter later told her that Davis stared at her for a 'very long time' before she asked him, 'Daddy, what are you doing?'
Chesley says Davis then went upstairs with a gun and the daughter heard Arrendale screaming and then a 'boom.'
'I'm not sure where his depression came from,' Chesley says, but says there was a custody battle over the six-month-old girl.
Leslie Tidwell, a friend of Arrendale's, set up a GoFundMe page for her two children, writing on it that 'Jessica was the sole provider for her household.'
Davis and Arrendale's six-month-old is still being treated at Children’s Health Care of Atlanta at Scottish Rite Hospital and plans are for Ionniello to take custody of her.

Dad arrested for seriously injuring 15-month-old son with "multibladed weapon"-- and killing the dog (Houston, Texas)

HOUSTON - A bizarre, multibladed weapon may have contributed to the serious injuries suffered by a southwest Houston toddler Monday.
According to Houston police, a woman arrived home at Westhampton and Bathurst from a trip at around 10 a.m. Monday and found the child's father in a pool of blood on the floor, cradling the baby. A dead dog was found nearby.
"Me and my wife go in there and there are wounds to the baby's face and all across the arm," said neighbor Ken Wallace.
A Local 2 photographer dispatched to the scene caught a shot of a weapon removed from the house. It appears to be a wearable glove with metal claws. A source close to the investigation confirmed the item was sharp and very dangerous.
Police say the 15-month old boy had a severe gash from his forehead to his eyebrow. There was also shattered glass from a broken window everywhere.
At this time, police tell Local 2 they do not know if the child's injuries were from the glass shards or if he was cut by the metal claw or something else.
The woman, who police say is related to the baby but haven't said she's the mother, started screaming and neighbors ran inside to pull the child off the father and call police, according to investigators.
Police say when officers arrived, the father was belligerent and had to be hog-tied. He was taken into custody.
The woman went to the hospital with the child, who was conscious. Local 2 has learned the child suffered a fractured skull. The toddler's condition has not been released.
A group of neighbors managed to get the child out of the house as the suspect, identified as 31-year-old Rodney Jermaine Lee, drifted in and out of lucidity.
Police at the scene speculated that Lee may have been under the influence of drugs. On Monday night he was being examined by doctors.
An officer at the scene said Lee would be charged with injury to a child. Those charges could be upgraded depending on the fate of the boy.
Neighbors stepped in to help. "My wife put the boy on a cot and just put her hand to God, and he started breathing," Wallace said. Neighbors tell Local 2 the residents had only been in the home about five weeks, and they didn't know them very well.

Judge denies bond for father accused in double homicide
Roslyn Giles Posted: 09/23/2014 6:47 AM
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - New details have been released in a double homicide case involving a Columbus mother and her son. The prosecutor in the case, Don Kelly, told the court more charges will be filed against the child's father, Brandon Conner.
It is the first time we heard anything about possible arson related charges since Rosella Mitchell and Dylan were killed and left to burn inside their Winifred Lane home on Aug. 22.
The information was revealed during a bond hearing Monday, Sept. 22. Conner held his head down during the entire proceeding listening as his attorney William Kendrick argued that his client is not a flight risk.
Kendrick also pointed out that Conner has not been charged with arson... a key part of the case since prosecutor maintain the fire was deliberately set to cover up the murders. That's when Kelly made it know that the charges are forthcoming in the case.
"It's of course interesting there were no facts to support it in the beginning. So it may be more of a getting an indictment that's congruent with the case as oppose to a charge that's by any real evidence," explained Kendrick.
Prosecuting attorney, Don Kelly told the judge he is opposed to Conner getting out on bond and that he is a great flight risk based on the charges and what he could be facing in the future.
Detective Valerie Holder also told the court a knife was found in the defendant's BMW and a large amount of blood was on his person when police stopped him last month. It was around the same time the remains of Conner's girlfriend and his six month old son were found inside their burning house on Winifred Lane.
Rosella Mitchell had been stabbed, but Dylan's death is still undetermined. Holder also said Conner was sweating and extremely nervous. He was taken into custody on unrelated charges.
But in the end, Judge Bill Rumer denied the request for bond. Conner's attorney William Kendrick said they will try for it again in 120 days, when the judge said the request could be revisited.

Dad charged wih causing serious bodily harm to 4-month-old daughter; mom has lost custody, though apparently not charged with a crime (Hurricane, West Virginia)
This, unfortunately, happens a lot. Even though there appears to be no accusation that the mother engaged in child abuse, she loses custody anyway. Mothers are always being held responsible for the behavior of others (especially fathers), even though they typically don't have the authority or the resources to kick the father out of the picture. In fact, mothers are actively PUNISHED for trying to do so, and are labeled "liars" or "alienators" who are "depriving" their kids of their father.
Dad is identified as PAUL PAROG.

Putnam Father Charged With Child Abuse; State Police Says He Admits To Shaking Baby Updated: Tuesday, September 23, 2014 | Taisha Walker, Kaylin E. Searles
HURRICANE, W.Va. -- A father from Hurricane has been accused of injuring his baby.
West Virginia State Police said Paul Parog is responsible for causing serious bodily harm to his 4-month old daughter, not reporting the incident for several days and then lying about it.
Dan Erwin has lived on Fifh Street for 30 years. He can tell you a little about everyone who lives on his block, including the quiet family across the street.
"They sort of keep to themselves," Erwin said. "They do speak when you drive by." Erwin said Ashley and Paul Parog would often bring their daughter Lillian Grace outside.
Erwin said about two weeks ago, they just stopped.
"Recently, I haven't seen the baby and we were wondering why," Erwin said.
There was something else Erwin noticed.
"There was an ambulance over there about 10 days, two weeks ago about 4 o'clock in the morning because we saw the lights flashing," Erwin said. "The couple was gone for a couple days and then the couple came back and since then we haven't seen the baby."
State troopers said Paul Parog didn't immediately seek medical help for his infant on Sept. 3. Dr. Joan Phillips, a Charleston pediatrician, sounded the alarm two days later when she noticed the baby was experiencing seizures, had head trauma and signs of shaken baby syndrome. Parog told troopers he fell on the floor with the infant, knocking her unconscious. Troopers said he panicked and shook the baby.
Lt. Michael Baylous said Phillips' observations were key.
"Her statement to us helped provide probable cause and when you get probable cause it's hardly based on one particular piece of evidence," Baylous said.
Troopers said Parog initially lied about how the infant became injured but later came clean. The 22-year-old father was arrested and charged with child abuse resulting in injury.
Erwin said it just goes to show you never know what goes on behind closed doors.
Lillian Grace has been released from the hospital and is now in the custody of her grandmother. The 4-month-old is now eating on her own, but troopers said she can't see and has trouble holding her head.
Parog is in jail on a $50,000 bond. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ HURRICANE, W.Va. -- A Putnam County man was arrested on a child abuse charge for allegedly shaking his 4-month-old baby.
Paul Anthony Parog, 23, is being charged with child abuse resulting in injury, according to a criminal complaint from Putnam Magistrate Court.
State troopers said Parog initially told them he tripped while carrying the baby, and she hit her head on the arm rest of a couch. Dr. Joan Phillips, a pediatrician at Women’s and Children’s Hospital, treated the baby and said the injuries sustained were too severe for Parog’s explanation.
State Police said Parog later admitted to troopers in a recorded confession that he lied about the way the baby sustained her injuries. Parog said that the two had fallen on the floor, knocking the baby unconscious. He then said that he panicked and shook the baby.
Parog said that he did not seek medical assistance right away because he was afraid of getting into trouble.
Parog’s is being held in the Western Regional Jail. His bond is set at $50,000.

Male caseworker who sexually abused female client has FULL CUSTODY of resulting child despite pressuring her to have abortion; client then lost custody of other children to state though child maltreatment allegations found to be without merit (Milwaukee, Wisconsin)
Outrageous even by Dastardly standards, which is a pretty high bar. The male caseworker sexually abused a female client under investigation for child maltreatment. The allegations were found to be without merit--though he never told her. She got pregnant, he pressured her to have an abortion. She refused. So he retaliated by having her kids taken away from her and put in state custody.
And sexual abuser (and less than enthusiastic father-to-be) has FULL CUSTODY of the resulting baby! How the hell did that happen? Who was responsible for that?
There is NO INDICATION here that custodial dad (and rapist) PETER J. NELSEN is losing custody any time soon, or that this mother will have any of her children returned to her. This is just about the state agency he worked for and whether she is entitled to monetary damages. Just sickening.

Woman seeks damages from caseworker who fathered her child
She seeks $15 million in federal trial in Milwaukee
By Crocker Stephenson of the Journal Sentinel
Sept. 22, 2014
An emotionally troubled woman who was impregnated by a state social worker sent to her home to investigate an allegation of child maltreatment is seeking $15 million in damages in a trial that began Monday in federal court.
The caseworker, Peter J. Nelsen, testified Monday that he repeatedly had sexual relations with the woman, Theola Nealy, and then, when she became pregnant, pressured her to have an abortion.
Nealy refused. Within weeks, Nelsen's employer — the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare — placed her two children in state custody. They have never been reunited.
Nealy gave birth to a daughter on Aug. 19, 2008. Nelsen retains full custody of the child.
The case is being tried before U.S. District Judge Charles Clevert. Most facts are not in dispute.
What is in dispute is whether Nelsen was acting in the scope of his employment as an initial assessment worker for the state-run bureau. If so, the state would be liable for damages he inflicted.
Nelsen, who now works as a janitor, has little money and is in effect judgment-proof. He is not putting on a defense.
The state, represented by Monica A. Burkert Brist, and Nealy, represented Joy Bertrand and Elizabeth Fernandez, have agreed:
Nelsen was assigned by the bureau to investigate an allegation of maltreatment involving Nealy's two children in the summer of 2007. Though Nelsen concluded that the allegations were without merit, he did not immediately tell Nealy.
The bureau received another allegation of maltreatment later that summer. Although another bureau worker was assigned the case, Nelsen told Nealy he would handle it. That allegation was also found to be without merit.
Nelsen continued to visit Nealy's home. Though uncomfortable with his visits, Nealy allowed them, afraid he had the power to put her children in state custody.
Nelsen began to have sex with Nealy in the fall of 2007.
That spring, a caseworker for Wisconsin Works demanded that the pregnant Nealy tell her the name of the father. Afraid her benefits would be cut or denied, Nealy told her Nelsen's name and that he was a social worker. Both the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare and Wisconsin Works are administered by the state Department of Children and Families.
Nelsen, a 12-year veteran of the bureau, was allowed to resign in April 2009.
Under state law, the bureau was required to report Nelsen to the Department of Regulation and Licensing, but it failed to do so until contacted by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The trial, which is before a jury of six men and six women, is expected to last through Thursday.
Nealy is expected to testify Tuesday.

Custodial dad hands gun to abused 13-year-old son, tells suicidal boy to kill himself (Oscela County, Florida)
All kinds of interesting things are buried in this article. Let's count them.
1) Dad MICHAEL YATSKO was custodial. He has to be, otherwise it would make no sense for him to tell the boy he wanted him to live with his ex-wife. If the boy was already living with the ex-wife, the father wouldn't tell him to do something he was already doing. Ipso facto, the boy was living with his physically and emotionally abusive father. In other words, this POS had custody.
2) So let's back up. Whenever there is a living mother, there had to be a DECISION that the father have custody. That means the mother either "agreed" (typically under threats--explicit or implicit--or duress of some sort) or there was involvement/collusion by the family courts.
3) That means this situation didn't just "happen.". It was CREATED. Who gave this abusive father custody? Who allowed this situation to continue to this point? Who enabled this vicious father to continually torture his son like this? Let's see the names.
4) Point of fact: Florida generally leads the country in the number of fathers who kill their children in situations involving custody, visitation, and child support. This is a near miss.

Father Hands Suicidal Son Gun to Kill Himself Because He Didn't Love Him Anyway
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla.
An Osceola County father is facing charges after investigators said he handed his son a gun moments after the boy talked about taking his own life.
Investigators said the gun was not loaded, but Michael Yatsko is facing child abuse and neglect charges.
Yatsko told deputies he was tired of his 13-year-old son acting cowardly.
The 44-year-old went before a judge Thursday and was granted bond, but was told to have no contact with his son and to surrender his weapons.
He was arrested in his St. Cloud home on Wednesday after he allegedly taunted his son by handing him the .45 caliber gun.
Deputies were initially called to the home on Alligator Lake Road on Tuesday after Yatsko allegedly slammed the boys head on a table.
The next day, deputies were back at the home after they said Yatsko told his son he didnt love him and wanted him to live with his ex-wife, the boys mother.
When the teen said he wanted to kill himself, Yatsko allegedly went into the boys bedroom, threw the handgun on the bed and told him, Do it. Kill yourself. I dont really care.
The gun was found unloaded by deputies Wednesday afternoon and the father claimed he never left his son alone with it.
The Department of Children and Families is now involved with the case.

Custodial "caretaker" dad charged with severely beating 6-month-old son (Pulaski, Virginia)
So it appears Dad STEVEN EDWARD AKERS got custody because Mom was in jail for some dubious reason, like "getting caught up with the wrong people." Does that mean drugs? Who knows. At any rate, Dad sounds much worse, and he was still walking around. And nearly killing his infant son in the process.

PULASKI, Va. -- - A Pulaski father is accused of severely beating his 6-month old son.
We got a tip from a viewer late Tuesday night about this story. This reporter found out both the baby's father and mother are in jail.
Ashley White said she knew the baby's family. This reporter showed a picture of the injured baby to White.
"Stories like this just absolutely eat me alive. I don't see how anyone can ever do this to a poor innocent child," White said.
Pulaski Police Detective Wes Ratcliff said that last Friday at around 10 p.m. they got a phone call.
"An anonymous caller called the police department and wanted the officers to do a welfare check on an infant, 6-months-old," Ratcliff said.
Ratcliff said officers showed up at the Washington Square apartment complex. They rang the bell and knocked on the door.
"When the infant was found, we did find him with severe injuries. It did take the officers some time to locate the caretaker of the child," Ratcliff said.
That caretaker was the baby's father, 23-year-old Steven Edward Akers. He is in jail, charged with child abuse and neglect of his son, Steven, who carries his father's first name.
Steven Akers' Facebook page is full of photographs. His profile picture shows him holding his son.
Police tell me the baby's mother is also in jail in Central Virginia on an unrelated charge.
White said until Wednesday, she never knew the baby was in any danger.
"She was a good person from what I understand. She got caught up with the wrong people. She was in jail and I guess she trusted the guy she left the baby with," White said.
Detective Ratcliff offered the final word on 6-month-old Steven.
"The baby is safe. We caught it in time, thanks to an anonymous caller. And she saved that baby's life," Ratcliff said.

Custodial dad arrested for fatal stabbing of 6-year-old son (Florence, California)
Interesting. Dad ALEJANDRO SANCHEZ is obviously custodial as the mother is no longer around. The nanny (who had only worked for this POS for one day) said the mother died shortly after the boy was born. But how would she know this, unless this is the story the father told her? And child killers are not known for their honesty and candor.
Dad also has a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and the child had signs of abuse. So lots of red flags here. Odds are VERY HIGH the mother was also abused, as these guys generally abuse partners as well as kids. Abusers are also very good at securing possession of and/or access to children after a separation. So is Mom eally dead? Or is she "missing"? And if she really is dead, was it from natural causes?

Boy, 6, Fatally Stabbed In Florence Allegedly By His Own Father

Boy, 6, Fatally Stabbed In Florence Allegedly By His Own Father
FLORENCE (CBSLA.com) — A man was in custody Thursday in connection with the stabbing death of his 6-year-old son, officials said.
The incident happened around midnight at a home in the 1600 block of 88th Street, near the corner of Compton Avenue, in Florence, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.
KNX 1070’s Pete Demetriou reports when deputies arrived on scene, they found a man, believed to be the boy’s father, screaming and covered in blood.
“They walked to the back of the location where there was a trailer and they found a male Hispanic boy, about 6 years of age, suffering from what appeared to be stab wounds,” Lt. Eddie Hernandez said.
Officials determined the first grader had a light pulse and administered CPR. He was transported to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood where he died from his wounds.
The boy’s father, who was identified by neighbors as 38-year-old Alejandro Sanchez, was detained for question and then arrested.
Neighbors said Sanchez had a history of drug and alcohol abuse and that the child showed signs of abuse.
“A burn on one of his legs and he would say that he was scared to be with his dad,” the nanny’s daughter Grizelle Ibarra said. “Yesterday he mentioned he didn’t want to go home because he was scared his dad was going to hit him.”
Deputies recovered several knives from the scene, but it was unknown if they were used in the crime.
KCAL9’s Erica Nochlin said the boy’s father is being held on $1 million bail.
The boy, a first-grader at Parmelee Avenue Elementary School, has been identified as Nathan Sanchez.
Police said when they arrives on scene, the boy’s father was shouting incoherently.
The boy’s nanny said she was watching over him only yesterday. She also provided KCAL9 with a picture of Nathan.
The nanny also told KCAL9, that the boy’s mother died shortly after he was born. Nathan lived in the home with his father.
Nochlin was checking to see if there were any previous reports of child abuse regarding Sanchez but Child Protective Services told her it would take some time for them to gather that information.

A Lithuanian father has admitted murdering his two-month-old baby daughter.
Aurimas Medvedevas, 23, changed his plea to guilty two days in to his trial at the Old Bailey.
The jury had been told that two-month-old Aukse had a bite on her forehead and had suffered repeated blows and violent shaking. She was found with a deep cut to the liver, five rib fractures, and bleeding on the brain and eyes indicating that she had been shaken.
Agency worker Dzesika Urbikaite, 22, returned to their Peterborough home on September 5 last year to find her daughter dead in a cot.
Medvedevas had previously denied murder, claiming she had died accidentally by falling out of bed.
The jury returned a guilty verdict.
Judge Timothy Pontius told the jury that they had heard his "clear and voluntary confession of guilt".
He told them: "This is a distressing case and a tragic one. Your are relieved of the burden of listening to that evidence."
Sentencing is set to take place next week but a date has yet to be fixed.
Prosecutor Karim Khalil QC had previously told the court that the cause of death was a head injury although there were "signs of numerous other inflicted injuries too".
A post-mortem examination uncovered a catalogue of bruises and abrasions on Aukse's body as well as two bite marks on her head.
An examination of one of the bite marks showed it matched the defendant's teeth imprint, the court heard.
After he was arrested, the defendant admitted he had been in sole care of the baby but denied hurting her.
Before his trial, he produced an account claiming the baby must have fallen out of bed and hit her head on the side of the cot while he was beside her in a deep sleep.
Then on the day his trial was due to start in May, he produced a radically different account, accepting for the first time that he caused the injuries, the court heard.
He said he had shaken his baby and thrown her on the bed and then from there she fell to the floor, the court heard.
But the prosecutor said that Medvedevas had still failed to account for all the injuries Aukse suffered and there was no explanation for the bite marks on her forehead.

Tulsa man arrested for abusing infant

A Tulsa man was booked in Tulsa County Jail Friday afternoon for abusing an infant.
Robert Bragg was booked on five counts of abusing his 5-week-old. Police said the baby was found with critical injuries. Officers said the abuse occurred between 5 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. while his mother was at work.
Sgt. Michael Brown says the father admitted to shaking the child. He said the father was frustrated because the baby wouldn't stop crying and he needed sleep, according to police. Officers found the child with bruising to the torso and as well as to the face.
The man was arrested Friday morning after taking the child to his primary care physician. The child was later taken to Saint Francis Hospital, where the man was arrested. Tulsa police were on the scene of the crime, near M.L.K. Jr. Boulevard and East Apache Street.
On Aug. 14 Bragg posted this picture on his Facebook page and in the comments he said they are "happy about our new little one."
Bragg is being held on $50,000 for each count, jail records said. Formal charges haven't been filed.
The grandfather of the infant says the doctors gave her a 40 percent chance of surviving the injuries. He added they are praying for their granddaughter and hoping that Braggs feels the full weight of the justice system.
"I hope the justice system gives him everything they can. No child deserves this. No person deserves this, and I believe he needs to be punished thoroughly," said Grandfather Jeff Slader.
Slader said his granddaughter could need surgery as well.
"She was happy, healthy. I just had her Sunday. I was supposed to have her today."
According to police, Braggs admitted to molesting the infant as well and was even said to have bitten her while "playing."

Dad who killed daughter, six grand children had history of jail, violence (Bell, Florida)
More on mass killer dad DON SPIRIT. Of course he has a history of violence that was basically ignored by the authorities. This is nearly always the case. Plus, I suspect that there was sexual abuse in this relationship. Just has that vibe.

Florida man who shot daughter, six grandchildren had history of jail time and domestic violence September 19, 2014, 6:18 PM
Don Spirit, a Florida grandfather who fatally shot his daughter Sarah Lorraine Spirit and six grandchildren before killing himself, had a long history of domestic violence — at one point pushing his pregnant daughter against a refrigerator and assaulting and threatening his former wife, according to court records..
A family member described a tumultuous, sometimes violent father-daughter relationship — fighting one day and caring for each other the next — and said the 51-year-old man was particularly on edge before Thursday's night shooting.
He killed Sarah Lorraine Spirit, 28, and her six children who ranged in age from 3 months to 11 years, at his home in Bell, Fla. He turned the gun on himself soon after Gilchrist County sheriff's deputies arrived. He too died.
The children were identified as Kaleb Kuhlmann, 11; Kylie Kuhlmann, 9; Johnathon Kuhlmann, 8; Destiny Stewart, 5; Brandon Stewart, 4; and Alanna Stewart, who was born in June.
The mother and her six children were living with Don Spirit at the time of the killing, said Katie Stewart, an aunt of Sarah Lorraine Spirit's three youngest children.
Stewart, 17, said she had also been living at the house. but moved out about a week ago because of a variety of factors — particularly Don Spirit's escalating anger.
“He was just yelling and cussing too much,” she said.
Father and daughter appeared to be entwined in a disturbing cycle of domestic violence, according to Stewart's description.
“It was like love, hate. One day he didn't want nothing to do with her and the kids, and then … out of nowhere he would bring food and groceries,” Stewart said.
Although he had been arrested for assaulting her in the past, Sarah Lorraine Spirit said she loved her father and even trusted him to take care of her children on occasion, Stewart said.
“This was just crazy,” she said of the shooting. “I don't really see him doing that for no reason.”
Stewart said she had seen him use synthetic marijuana. Also, she said he was on medication for what she believed was bipolar disorder. “He was taking medicine, but a couple of days ago, before this happened, he said he was going to quit taking his medicine because it wasn't helping him,” Stewart said.
According to Gilchrist County court records, Don Spirit had been in and out of jail. He pleaded guilty in 2003 to a weapons possession charge after he shot and killed his 8-year-old son in a hunting accident two years earlier. He served three years before being released from prison in 2006.
Before the accident, Spirit had had numerous run-ins with the law, with convictions dating to 1996, when he pleaded guilty to felony drug possession for marijuana. He also pleaded no contest in 1995 to child abuse, including depriving a child of food and shelter, according to court records from Hillsborough County, Fla.
He had a history of assaulting his former wife, Christine Jeffers, throughout their 22-year marriage, according to court documents. The couple divorced in 2005. During one of the last assaults in 2002, he broke the windows in her vehicle with a sledge hammer and threatened to kill her.
She opted not to prosecute him, the report stated. Instead, he admitted himself for a mental health examination.
In 2008, Don Spirit served jail time for aggravated assault against his daughter, who was pregnant at the time.
But Sarah Lorraine Spirit ended up not testifying against him, dropped a court domestic-violence protection order and wrote a letter on his behalf.
“I love my father, he is the only family I have and he is a big part of mine and my [children's] life. My father is a good person. He just has a lot of emotional problems,” she wrote. “Since my brother died my dad hasn't been [emotionally] or mentally stable, he has a lot of problems but he would never hurt somebody intentionally.”

Bell, Florida shooting: Grandfather killed daughter, 6 kids and self, police say
Published September 18, 2014 ·FoxNews.com
A grandfather shot and killed his daughter and her six children Thursday in the town of Bell, Florida before committing suicide after police arrived at the scene, authorities said.
The children ranged in age from three months to 10 years old, Gilchrist County Sheriff Robert D. Schultz III told reporters at an evening press conference.
Schultz identified the suspect as Don C. Spirit, 51, a white male. The sheriff said Spirit had placed a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. in which he "made reference to harming people and himself."
Schultz declined to speculate on a motive, citing the ongoing investigation, but he said Spirit had a criminal history, and that police had been called previously to his house.
"We're asking for prayers for this community and the victims involved," Schultz said.
In 2001, Spirit pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after he fatally shot his 8-year-old son in the head in a hunting accident, the Orlando Sentinel reported. Spirit, who also was convicted in 1998 for felony possession of marijuana, was sentenced to three years in prison for the shooting, the Sentinel added.
Bell is a town of 350 people about 30 miles west of Gainesville.

Dad charged with murder for beating death of 1-month-old baby during visitation (Kingston, North Carolina)
We've said it before, and we will say it again. There is absolutely no good reason for newborns to be subjected to visitation. It's developmentally harmful, interferes with breast feeding, creates attachment problems, and stresses infants unnecessarily. There is ESPECIALLY no reason for infants to be subjected to visitation with young, never married fathers who apparently never had any intention of committing to the mother or being part of a family. These guys are often volatile, potentially violent, and unable to bond with the baby in any way. Too often the result is serious injury or death. We need to stop pretending that casual relationships are the same thing as marriage. These guys deserve NO RIGHTS as they have assumed NO RESPONSIBILITIES.
And we need to stop going after these dudes for child support. It just puts babies at risk because visitation is mandated for the mothers to receive payment. Just provide mothers and children with the income supports they need. Tax these guys if need be. But stop this slaughter of babies.

KINSTON, NC - The father of an 1-month-old baby has now been charged in the murder of the North Carolina child, which happened in February.
Just 2 weeks ago, officials ruled the Feb. 17 death of baby Caden Williams -- who suffered broken ribs, liver damage and head trauma -- a homicide.
Now, they have charged Ricky Lee Clark Jr. at his home around 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. He's charged with an open count of murder in the death of his infant son, who was visiting Clark Jr. at the time the baby started coughing up blood, officials and Caden's aunt say.
Kinston Public Safety re-opened the investigation recently after the autopsy revealed someone killed the 1-month-old. Officers say they needed the autopsy to know for sure how little Caden Williams died.
The autopsy revealed someone broke Caden's ribs, damaged his liver, and delivered some serious head trauma. Officials then ruled it homicide.
Clark Jr., age 20, is being held without bond in the Lenoir County Jail. His first appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
Caden's aunt says the baby started coughing up blood and stopped breathing during a visit to his father, Ricky Lee Clark Jr.'s, house. Caden's mother, Tyrianna Williams, just wants someone to give her some answers.
“Now that we have the autopsy report back, it's no sleeping. We know somebody actually killed this baby," said the victim's aunt, Nakia Blackwell.
Blackwell says Caden passed away while visiting his father on February 17th.
"We sent a perfectly healthy baby away, and the next thing you know we are at the hospital kissing a dead baby," said Blackwell.
Blackwell says the last six months waiting for the autopsy results have been difficult for Caden's mother. She says the details of Caden's injuries were hard for family to read.
“It was a gruesome murder. You shook this baby, you punched this baby, you slapped this baby, and then you didn't get the baby [any] help," said Blackwell.
Blackwell says she will continue to push for justice for Caden. Just after the case was re-opened weeks ago, the family hosted a candlelight vigil for Caden in Kinston.

Baby Kate father's murder charge dismissal to be appealed by prosecutor, Attorney General Bill Schuette
By Heather Lynn Peters on September 15, 2014 at 1:23 PM, updated September 15, 2014 at 1:35 PM
MASON COUNTY, MI -- Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette and Mason County Prosecutor Paul Spaniola will appeal the decision announced Monday, Sept. 15, by a district court judge to dismiss an open murder charge against Sean Phillips, Baby Kate's father.
Phillips was charged with open murder of his daughter, Katherine "Baby Kate" Phillips who disappeared in Mason County on June 29, 2011. She was 4½ months old when she disappeared.
District Court Judge Peter J. Wadel dismissed the charge against Phillips on Monday. The attorney general said he will continue to fight for justice. In a seven-page written opinion from Wadel, the judge simply states there wasn't enough evidence to charge Phillips with the baby's death.
"Baby Kate deserves full justice. We will not settle for any less," Schuette said in a press release. "As Attorney General, it is my job to ensure every victim across our state has a voice no matter who you are or where you live."
Spaniola said a circuit judge will review the case on the appeal.
"We have already decided that the pursuit of justice for Baby Kate is to appeal this decision and have the circuit judge review the evidence which we presented at the preliminary examination," Spaniola said in the same press release.
As of Sept. 15, 2014, the child remained missing.
Phillips is already serving a prison term of 10 to 15 years for unlawful imprisonment of his daughter. A Mason County jury convicted him of that in April 2012.

Dad in "bitter custody battle" murders 7-year-old daughter; once again, protective mother's concerns ignored (United Kingdom)
Once again, we see the same red flags. Dad with a "violent past." Dad with a history of domestic violence. Dad engaged in "custody dispute" (i.e. custody siege directed against the mother). Mother's concerns ignored by the pro-daddy authorities. Predictable result: a 7-year-old girl is now dead, shot and killed on the streets. It's all about control for these guys. Control of people, and punishing the mother.
Dad is identified as YASSER ALROMISSE.

Mother of girl shot by father told police of concerns
Lyndsey Shipstone understood to have spoken to local sergeant weeks before estranged partner killed daughter and himself
The Guardian, Monday 15 September 2014 12.25 EDT
A woman whose seven-year-old daughter was fatally shot in the head by her ex-partner told police weeks earlier that he might attack the family, the Guardian has learned.
Lyndsey Shipstone, 42, is understood to have told Sussex police she was concerned about a possible attack by her estranged ex-partner Yasser Alromisse, 46, who officers knew had a violent past.
On Thursday, Alromisse turned up at Shipstone's house in Northiam, East Sussex, and fatally shot their daughter, Mary, before killing himself inside a silver Toyota parked on the driveway.
The incident raises questions for Sussex police, whose officers had been in contact with Shipstone in the weeks and months leading up to the killing.
Shipstone was moved to a secret address in the quiet village of Northiam, near Rye, last year with Mary and her older son, Stephen, 21, to escape Alromisse.
The pair were involved in a bitter custody battle over the children and Alrimosse was believed to pose a threat to the family due to his history of domestic violence.
Since moving to Northiam, the family had been in contact with police and Shipstone is understood to have raised concerns with a local sergeant that her ex-partner was capable of attacking the family.
Egyptian-born Alromisse is thought to have discovered their address months ago through court papers. He was seen last week staking out the area in his Toyota Rav 4 vehicle.
Shipstone married Alromisse in Liverpool in 2005 after she converted to Islam, but the pair later separated. After the split, Shipstone lived with her children in Brighton between 2009 and 2011.
Investigators are waiting to take a full account from Shipstone. The case may face an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The police watchdog had not received a referral from Sussex police by Monday afternoon.
The force declined to comment on any warnings it may have received about Alromisse. A spokesman said: "We're investigating the circumstances of how Alromisse came to be at the house in Northiam. At this stage, we are still trying to confirm how he discovered the address."
The area's police and crime commissioner, Katy Bourne, said: "The untimely and tragic death of Mary Shipstone has no doubt had a profound effect on her family, the local community and everyone who knew her. In my role as PCC, I will be closely following the progress of the police investigation and the circumstances around Mary's death."
Neighbours said Alromisse was waiting in his car for his daughter and ex-partner as they walked home from nearby Beckley Church of England primary school at 4pm on Thursday. Shipstone screamed: "He's got a gun" before Alromisse shot Mary twice in the head.
Armed police arrived at the scene within minutes and found Alromisse slumped inside his car with a self-inflicted bullet wound. Mary was flown to King's College hospital in London where she died of her injuries shortly before 3pm on Friday.
In a statement issued through Sussex police, Shipstone and her son Stephen said: "We are grieving the death of our beautiful and loving Mary."
