Once again, we see the same red flags. Dad with a "violent past." Dad with a history of domestic violence. Dad engaged in "custody dispute" (i.e. custody siege directed against the mother). Mother's concerns ignored by the pro-daddy authorities. Predictable result: a 7-year-old girl is now dead, shot and killed on the streets. It's all about control for these guys. Control of people, and punishing the mother.

A woman whose seven-year-old daughter was fatally shot in the head by her ex-partner told police weeks earlier that he might attack the family, the Guardian has learned.
Lyndsey Shipstone, 42, is understood to have told Sussex police she was concerned about a possible attack by her estranged ex-partner Yasser Alromisse, 46, who officers knew had a violent past.
On Thursday, Alromisse turned up at Shipstone's house in Northiam, East Sussex, and fatally shot their daughter, Mary, before killing himself inside a silver Toyota parked on the driveway.
The incident raises questions for Sussex police, whose officers had been in contact with Shipstone in the weeks and months leading up to the killing.
Shipstone was moved to a secret address in the quiet village of Northiam, near Rye, last year with Mary and her older son, Stephen, 21, to escape Alromisse.
The pair were involved in a bitter custody battle over the children and Alrimosse was believed to pose a threat to the family due to his history of domestic violence.
Since moving to Northiam, the family had been in contact with police and Shipstone is understood to have raised concerns with a local sergeant that her ex-partner was capable of attacking the family.
Egyptian-born Alromisse is thought to have discovered their address months ago through court papers. He was seen last week staking out the area in his Toyota Rav 4 vehicle.
Shipstone married Alromisse in Liverpool in 2005 after she converted to Islam, but the pair later separated. After the split, Shipstone lived with her children in Brighton between 2009 and 2011.
Investigators are waiting to take a full account from Shipstone. The case may face an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. The police watchdog had not received a referral from Sussex police by Monday afternoon.
The force declined to comment on any warnings it may have received about Alromisse. A spokesman said: "We're investigating the circumstances of how Alromisse came to be at the house in Northiam. At this stage, we are still trying to confirm how he discovered the address."
The area's police and crime commissioner, Katy Bourne, said: "The untimely and tragic death of Mary Shipstone has no doubt had a profound effect on her family, the local community and everyone who knew her. In my role as PCC, I will be closely following the progress of the police investigation and the circumstances around Mary's death."
Neighbours said Alromisse was waiting in his car for his daughter and ex-partner as they walked home from nearby Beckley Church of England primary school at 4pm on Thursday. Shipstone screamed: "He's got a gun" before Alromisse shot Mary twice in the head.
Armed police arrived at the scene within minutes and found Alromisse slumped inside his car with a self-inflicted bullet wound. Mary was flown to King's College hospital in London where she died of her injuries shortly before 3pm on Friday.
In a statement issued through Sussex police, Shipstone and her son Stephen said: "We are grieving the death of our beautiful and loving Mary."

A tragic story concerning an Egyptian father who killed his three young daughters with snakes last April was largely missed in the West. According to Emirates24:
An Egyptian man killed his three young daughters aged 7, 5 and 3 by letting a poisonous snake bite them. According to ‘Al Youm Al Sabea’a’ newspaper, the three kids were found dead in their bed in Bani Mazar town of Al Minya governorate of upper Egypt. Forensic reports confirm the kids died due to snake poison. The man allegedly bought two cobras and let them bite the children while they were asleep so as not to be caught. He was divorced from their mother because he doubted her. He alleged that the children’s mother was in a relationship before marrying him and, therefore, denied that he fathered the kids. But she insisted he support the three daughters. However, when his second wife gave birth to a boy, he decided to do away with the children, he confessed to police under arrest.
While Emirates24 gives the story a Western spin—saying the man doubted his wife’s fidelity, the true parentage of his daughters, and did not want to pay child-support—the Egyptian show, Al Haqiqa (“the Truth”), which devoted an episode to this matter, never mentioned this angle, but rather portrayed him as killing his daughters simply because they were girls. Among the many people interviewed who verified this was the maternal grandmother, who said that, beginning with the birth of the first daughter, the man became hostile saying “I hate girls” and had to be placated to return to his wife. This scenario was repeated more dramatically with the birth of the second daughter. When he discovered his wife was pregnant with a third daughter, he tried to poison the pregnant woman but failed. He then spent a year plotting how to kill the girls without getting caught and had even tried with different snakes earlier, which proved ineffective, until he finally succeeded.
After stressing that the father was clearly not insane, but acted in a very deliberate manner, the host of Al Haqiqa, Wael Ibrashi, explained that “this matter deserves discussion, since these mentalities are present in Egyptian society. We never thought that these understandings that existed in pagan [jahiliyya] times concerning female infanticide would ever return, but they have returned.”
By “pagan times,” or jahiliyya, Ibrashi was alluding to a famous narrative: according to Muslim tradition, pre-Islamic Arabs used to bury their newborn infants alive, if they were daughters, but the prophet of Islam, Muhammad, outlawed female infanticide.
While this was a positive step, unfortunately, it is only half the picture. Indeed, this brutal filicide is a reminder of an often overlooked phenomenon of the Muslim world: oftentimes it is not the specific teachings of Islam that inform the actions of the average Muslim—many of whom are wholly unaware what the Koran teaches, let alone Sharia—but rather the general culture born of 14 centuries of Islam. Marshall Hodgson originally coined the term “Islamicate” to describe this phenomenon, which refers “not directly to the religion, Islam, itself, but to the social and cultural complex historically associated with Islam and the Muslims…” (The Venture of Islam, vol. 1, p.59).
Consider the issue of forced conversion. While the Koran states that “there is no coercion in religion”—even Koran 9:29, which is said to abrogate such verses, allows Christians and Jews to remain in their faiths—from the dawn of history till the present, forced conversions have been a normal aspect of Islam. Why? Because while the average Muslim may not know the letter of the law, based on Islamic culture, they know being an infidel is a terrible thing. Hence, “compelling” such hell-bound infidels to embrace Islam can be seen as an act of altruism.
As for the issue of female infanticide, while Islam certainly does not promote killing females simply because they are female, it does teach any number of things which dehumanize and devalue them in Muslim society, including the notion that women are deficient in intelligence (which even an Egyptian female political candidate agrees with); men are permitted to beat their wives; a woman’s testimony is worth half a man’s; and infidel women taken in jihad raids can be bought and sold as sex slaves (which even a Kuwaiti female political activist agrees with). Muhammad even likened women to dogs and devils, and said most of hell’s inhabitants would be women.
In this context, while Islam did not cause this man to murder his daughters, it certainly helped mold his low opinion of females, which was the seed of his misogynistic bloodlust.
Hence the great irony of Islam: it often matters less that Muhammad once said there is no coercion in religion or that female infanticide is wrong. His many other statements that characterized non-Muslim infidels and all women as “bad” have been more influential throughout the course of history, and seen any number of people forced to convert to Islam and any number of women abused and killed.

Fathers rights dads want return to father custody (Cairo, Egypt)
Ah, we see the true, unvarnished fathers rights movement here. These dads don't even give lip service to "shared" parenting. They want a return to the old (sharia) law, where moms lost physical custody of their sons at age 7, and their daughters at age 9. This is what the reactionary FRs all really about, apart from the slick public relations press releases. In other words, this has nothing to do with the "human rights" of men. It's about male domination of mothers and children.

About ten men gathered on Tuesday in front of the Cabinet offices to protest the law which grants mothers child custody in cases of divorce. Rami Imam, a Television director, says fathers are allowed only three hours a week with their children when the mother has custody.
The men standing held a banner reading “Egyptian men’s revolution for changing family laws”. Walid Zahran, a lawyer and the founder of the Egyptian Men’s Revolution Movement, says they are planning on setting up an NGO to defend men’s rights and to fight for changing the family laws which only benefit women when it comes to child custody.
Imam, a divorced father himself, says the law automatically gives custody to the mother until the child reaches the age of 15. Meanwhile, the father is only allowed to see his child once every week and for only three hours in a public place. “Neither his grandfather, grandmother, uncles or aunts are allowed to be there at the meeting or any of his half siblings, if any, which practically means the child is completely cut off from his father’s family,” says Imam.
The men who participated in the demonstration expressed anger at the law which they believe does not allow men to practice their role as fathers in case of divorce. One demonstrator objected saying “the child is only influenced by the mother, since she is the only one around; what could the father say or do with his child in three hours?”
The demonstrators believe that the family law favours women over men and demand that the women only get child custody until the age of 7 for boys and 9 for girls as the case was before 2005, when the law changed to rise the age to fifteen. Moreover, men object that the law gives custody priority to the maternal grandmother or maternal aunts before the father in case the mother remarries or cannot take custody, preferring custody to any woman within the mother’s family over the father.
The demonstrators have filed a complaint to interim Prime Minister Essam Sharaf who said will look into their case.
The men said they will be staging another demonstration on 7July at the ministry of justice to object to the current family law and to the justice minister that men from different governorates are planning to head to Cairo and join the protest.

Custodial dad, step have sentences reduced to 5 years in abuse of 9-year-old girl (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates)
We've reported on this case before. Notice that there are "no specific child abuse laws" in the United Arab Emirates. And notice that in this story, the custodial father and step are continually misrepresented as "the parents," when in fact this child HAD a living, non-custodial mother. But of course in this society, she was essentially without legal rights as a woman or as a mother.
This is a correlation you see transhistorically and cross-culturally. The societies that stress the rights of the father and the societies less likely to value children are generally the same.
Notice that in a region of the world where women are threatened with death by stoning for adultery, these two had their sentences reduced to just FIVE YEARS for nearly killing this 9-year-old girl.

ABU DHABI // A father and stepmother who severely abused their nine-year-old daughter had their jail sentences reduced again yesterday, to five years.
The Emirati man and his Egyptian wife, who live in Bani Yas, had been sentenced to 10years in prison and fined Dh160,000 in April 2009 after they were convicted of abuse and causing “risk of death”. There are no specific child-abuse laws in the UAE.
The case drew the attention of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, who visited the girl in hospital with his daughter and spoke against child abuse.
The Public Prosecution appealed against the sentence and demanded the maximum penalty of life imprisonment, or 25 years. The parents also appealed, to have the sentence reduced. In June, the Court of Appeals reduced the prison sentence to seven years, but upheld the fine.
In September last year the case went to the Court of Cassation, where the parents were represented for the first time by a lawyer, Ali al Abbadi. He argued that because the parents faced a possible life sentence the lower courts should have appointed someone to represent them. He also argued that police had arrested the couple too quickly, and without reliable investigation.
The Court of Cassation ordered a retrial and the parents reappeared before the Court of Appeals under a new panel, which yesterday further reduced the prison sentence, but upheld the fine.
The girl was admitted to hospital in February 2009, when her father told doctors she had fallen off her bicycle. She had severe bruises, burns and scars on her body.
Doctors who examined her doubted the father’s claim and contacted the police, who arrested him and his wife.
In her initial defence before the appeals court, the stepmother told the justices she did not mean to abuse the girl and that corporal discipline was the way she had been taught to bring up a child. The father also denied that he abused his daughter, who is now 10.
The stepmother asked the court during the last hearing to give her a second chance to “prove to the world” that she was a good person.
“I did that solely for discipline, I did not mean any abuse,” she told the appeals judges. “This is how we were brought up, this is what we learnt from our parents.”
The stepmother pleaded guilty before the appeals court to beating the child with a stick several times. She also confessed to using a heated knife to burn the girl’s face, after the judge referred to forensic tests.
Both parents confessed in previous hearings to beating the child to “protect her from touching herself” and for “discipline” .
They have been in prison since February 2009. If either they or prosecutors appeal again, the case will return to the Court of Cassation for a final verdict.

On New Year’s Day 2008, two Texas teenagers Amina and Sarah Said were shot dead, their bloodied bodies left in a taxi cab. The alleged shooter: their father Yaser Said.
In fact, Sarah appears to identify her Dad as the murderer in a 9-11 call – her dying words.
For more than two years the Fox News Reporting team has been following this story and the search for Yaser Said, who vanished the night of the murders.
We learned this dark tale began long before the girls were born. Their mother Patricia married the Egyptian-born Said when she was only 15 years old. She says her husband violently abused her during their 20-year marriage.

Hirsi Ali fled again this time to the United States, where she lives under round-the-clock security but continues to be a forceful critic of Islam. Dad critically wounds mom while daughters in home; mom had previously filed for divorce, order of protection (Elmhurst, Illinois)
Dad DR. HANI HENNEIN shot and critically wounded his "estranged" wife while their two youngest children were in the home. The mom had just filed for divorce and an order of protection. She stated in court documents that Hennein had been "physically and mentally abusive" to her and their two daughters. In addition, note that the filing came just three days after Daddy was charged with misdeanor battery for hitting one of the daughters on the head. Friends of the girls say they were afraid of their dad. No sh**.
But of course, Daddy got out on ($100!) bail because these guys always get out on bail. And he was allowed to spend father's day with the kids. Of course. We must have our rights.
Well, at least since Dad managed to off himself as part of his Daddy Drama, the family can life in peace now. Harsh, but that's the way it is.

An acclaimed pediatric heart surgeon shot and critically wounded his estranged wife in their Elmhurst home early Friday, then shot himself to death, authorities said.
The 7 a.m. shootings that killed 52-year-old Dr. Hani Hennein and wounded his wife, Julia Hennein, came barely a month after she had filed for divorce and sought an order of protection against her husband of 30 years, court records show.
The couple’s two youngest children were in the house when the shootings occurred but neither was injured, Elmhurst police said.
Julia Hennein, also 52, was being treated for her wound at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
She had filed for divorce on June 1, alleging in court documents that her husband was “mentally and physically abusive” to her and to their two youngest daughters, who are 16 and 14.
That divorce filing came only three days after Dr. Hennein was arrested for misdemeanor battery for allegedly striking his 16-year-old daughter twice in the head with his hand.
Hennein was released after posting $100 bail, and that charge was still pending.
After filing for divorce, Julia Hennein was given exclusive rights to the family’s Elmhurst home and physical custody of the couple’s two youngest children, but Dr. Hennein was allowed supervised visits with those children at least once a week.
He also was allowed to spend Father’s Day with them.
The couple also has two older children, a 22-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old son, records indicate.
Julia Hennein initially had sought an order of protection against her husband when she filed for divorce, which allowed him to contact her only to discuss their children. But court records appear to indicate that order was vacated on June 17.
Attorneys involved in the divorce could not be reached Friday for comment.
The Henneins had lived on the quiet suburban street for only a few months, neighbors said. The parents were rarely seen, but the children were frequently outside and often had friends over.
“They’ve had disturbances there before,” said Jacie Verdak, a 15-year-old who lives across the street. A few weeks ago, she saw the police outside the house, and a daughter, whom she knew from school, was outside crying.
Two nights ago, Verdak said her sister saw Hennein walking around his garage and driveway, talking to himself.
Frank Connell, 15, was friends with the daughter and often at the house, but never saw the father.
“She was afraid of her father,” Connell said. “He was coming home, and she wanted us to stay because she was afraid of what might happen.” Later she changed her mind and asked them to leave.
Another teen who visited the home, David Quaglia, said of the mother, “She was a nice lady, she was protective of her daughters.”
The Henneins lived in a newly built home, the largest on the block. They had not yet fully unpacked, but art objects reflecting their Egyptian heritage, including a gold plate painted with images of pharaohs, were displayed prominently.
Quaglia said he still has trouble believing what happened to people he knows. “Imagine if we were there when something happened, I wouldn't the know what I would do.”
Hani Hennein’s body was found in the garage of the home, with a handgun nearby, a law enforcement source said.
He had a single gunshot wound to the head, the source said.
A pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon, Hani Hennein had been a faculty member in the surgery department at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health since August 2009.
“We learned of it late this morning. Obviously, it’s very tragic, and we’re still getting information in,” said Lisa Brunette, a spokeswoman for the university’s health department.
Before holding that post, Hennein was the director of surgical research at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland. In 2008, he was profiled in a “Best Doctors” article in Cleveland Magazine.
Hennein was also listed as a new doctor at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, according to a December 2009 hospital newsletter.
Hennein treated children and some adults born with congenital heart and lung defects, according to the magazine article, sometimes operating on newborns’ hearts that were about the size of a thumb tip.
He noted for the article that treating children requires a special touch.
“Treating children requires special consideration for the crowd of people who come with that child, from parents and siblings to pediatricians and nurses,” he said in the article. “They are all emotionally invested in that child.”

The second case in a week of parents subjecting their children to domestic abuse has surfaced in Jutland
A 60-year-old Egyptian man is in custody in the Jutland town of Sønderborg, facing charges of violence, threats and sexual assault against his own children.
According to TV2 News, the man has a total of 11 children with two wives – a Danish woman to whom he is married, and a German woman, whom he also considered himself married to.
Reportedly, the charges include incest committed against two of the man’s daughters. Social authorities say the two families were living under the same roof.
The man has four children from his German wife and seven children from the Danish woman, who told police that the alleged abuse had been occurring for a long period. In 2003, one of the daughters accused her father of sexual assault but later withdrew the complaint.
The children’s school, a teacher and a social worker had also previously notified authorities of domestic violence occurring in the household. In August of last year, Sønderborg council finally intervened in the case, leading to yesterday’s arrest.
But the case was reportedly being handled behind closed doors by the council, and the police therefore had little information about it. The matter has now been handed over to the public prosecutor, who will decide what specific charges the man will eventually face.
The man has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Since the arrest, seven of the children have been taken into custody by social services.
Social affairs minister Benedikte Kiær is now demanding an official statement from Sønderborg Council on the case by next Thursday.
‘It is absolutely inconceivable that the abuse apparently went on for several years before the council responded to the reports of violence and sexual abuse of these children,’ said Kiær.
Yesterday’s arrest comes on the heels of last week’s abuse case from Brønderslev, where a couple is facing charges of violence against their 20-year-old mentally-impaired daughter. Police believe the couple’s eight other children have also been victims of severe neglect.
Kiær said she also plans to hold a meeting with national council association Local Government Denmark over the issue.
‘It doesn’t do any good to have clear rules for assisting vulnerable children when the councils aren’t making use of them,’ she said.

A GRIEF-stricken mum is to embark on a 2,000-mile mission to find her missing daughter.
Leila Sabra, aged 32, from Whitefield, claims young daughter A’ishah was kidnapped by her father, Saber Mesbah Sabra, from a cafe in Egypt in May.
However, Saber denies abducting her, saying he does not know where A’ishah is.
In a bid to trace her daughter, Leila will fly to Egypt tomorrow.
Friends have formed a campaign group on social networking website Facebook called Bring 2yr old A’ishah Sabra Home! It has so far gained 100 members.
Leila has received dozens of messages of support and the cast of Coronation Street has publicly backed her.
Leila said: “My immediate priority is A’ishah’s health. I need to know exactly who has got her.
“I will fly out and demand action through the courts. Our written custody agreement clearly states that I have custody of A’ishah.”
Leila and Saber met in 2005. A’ishah was born in Manchester in 2007 and the couple lived in Egypt before divorcing in 2008.
Part of the custody agreement meant Leila would take A’ishah to Egypt each year so she could see her father.
Leila said: “A’ishah is a British girl with a British passport who has been missing for four months. I am asking every authority there is to help me get her back.”
She has met with Bury South MP Ivan Lewis, who is also a Minister of State (Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs).
He said: “I think it is a terrible and tragic situation. If any child at that age is separated from their mother, it is not just sad, but it is a great cause of concern.
“Leila will have a lot of support from the British Consulate when she arrives in Egypt.
“We have got to make it clear to the Egyptian Government that we, the British Government, are concerned about the kidnapping or disappearance of a British child.”

Abstract
This retrospective study evaluated 41 cases of child deaths child deaths of both sexes from family violence and autopsied at Mansoura Morgue of Forensic Medicine Institute from 1996 to 2005. According to their ages, children were divided into four groups as follow: The majority of perpetrators were males (75.62%); they comprised children fathers in 60.98%, while female perpetrators represented 24.39%; they comprised the children mothers in 7.32%. Fathers who lived in rural areas represented 75.6% and 24.4% in urban areas. Regarding the level of education of fathers of decedent children, 36.6% were illiterate, 17.1% were highly educated and 46.3% were less than high school education. The marital status of those parents were as follows: separated couples (51.2%), still married couples (22.0%); fathers with multiple wives (26.8%). Blunt trauma in abusive manner was the most common form (63.4%). It was concluded that some socio-demographic parameters are considered risk factors related to intrafamilial violence and it should be considered by Family Planning Programs to estimate the magnitude of this problem in our community on a large scale, offering psychological assessment and assurance for risky perpetrators aiming to prevent such fatal child abuse crimes.
