DENVER, N.C. – A father was charged with child abuse five days after a hospital reported injuries to a 3-month-old child to authorities, according to a news release from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
David Lawrence Simmons Jr., 24, of 8578 Unity Church Road, Denver, was charged with one count of felony child abuse with physical injury, the release said. He was given a $5,000 secured bond.
On Sept. 17, Huntersville Presbyterian Hospital reported to authorities a mother and father brought a 3-month-old child with a broken femur bone to the hospital, the release said.
Lincoln county detective Dan Renn investigated the case and charged the father, the release said.
