KITCHENER — A Waterloo man admitted Wednesday that he planted secret cameras to record his teenage daughters and their friends undressing.
The scheme came to light after one of the girls found memory devices hidden in the basement of the family home.
When she plugged them into her laptop computer, Kitchener court was told, the girl discovered numerous video files taken in three of the home's four bathrooms.
The teen and her sister unsuccessfully tried to find the cameras, which also recorded their father adjusting one of them.
Crown prosecutor Jim Dixon said the girls left the home without telling their parents and sought help from family friends, who called the police.
More facts based on an analysis of the videos may be outlined when the 43-year-old father — a trim, balding man who appeared in court in a dark suit — returns to court for sentencing in May for voyeurism over a three-month period last year.
"It's unknown how many people were actually captured on video," Dixon said.
Defence lawyer James Marentette requested an electronic monitoring report, an indication he will argue for a term of house arrest.
A court order prohibits publication of any information that could identify the victims, indirectly protecting their father as well.
