BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio father has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for fatal injuries inflicted on his 3-month-old son.
Wood County Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex on Friday gave 32-year-old Brian Steinmiller four more years than prosecutors sought under a plea agreement.
The (Toledo) Blade (http://bit.ly/1eb7mXb ) reports Steinmiller pleaded guilty in September to one count of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of endangering children.
The judge said Carter Steinmiller was "basically tortured" by his father, suffering 23 bone fractures and cigarette burns before his May 2012 death.
Brian Steinmiller told the court he was sorry and that he wished he could give his son his life back. Defense attorney Alan Konop says Steinmiller will appeal his sentence.
The boy's mother is scheduled for sentencing in January for child endangerment
