Dad charged with manslaughter in death of 1-year-old son (Floyd, New York)

Appears that dad IAN GULBIN bashed the baby to death while the pregnant mom was working the night shift. Then he dumped the baby's dead body on the floor for Mom to find the next morning after she got home.

Mother, brother of baby in court as father waives felony hearing in manslaughter case

FLOYD, N.Y. (WKTV) - Ian Gulbin, 31, the man charged with manslaughter in the death of his one-year-old child, Brayden Gulbin, appeared in the Town of Floyd Court Monday and waived his right to a felony hearing.

Gulbin appeared before Judge Christopher Clarkin.

Clarkin said the prosecution asked for no cameras to be allowed in the courtroom. The reason for this, if Gulbin did not waive his right to a felony hearing, the prosecution would have presented witness.

One of those witnesses, would have been the baby's 8-year-old brother who was in the family's Bridgewater home Sunday night into Monday morning when Brayden died.

Authorities say the boy's mother was working the overnight shift.

She arrived home after 7 a.m. that morning and found the baby dead on the floor outside the crib.

The felony complaint in this case says Ian Gulbin grabbed and slammed one-year-old Brayden into a hard object causing bruising and contusions to the head and facial areas. He also had two skull fractures, a lacerated liver, and internal bleeding.

Oneida County Assistant District Attorney Dawn Catera-Lupi said, "Basically the case was held for the action of the Grand Jury, which means in the next 45 days it will be presented to the Oneida County Grand Jury."

Brayden's mother, Anastasia Hogen, who is currently pregnant, was in court along with her 8-year-old son. Both would have testified if Ian Gulbin did not waive his right to a felony hearing.
