A Winfield Township man is accused of seriously injuring his infant son in the Arnold residence of the baby's mother in September.

Daniel J. Granado, 21, of Terrace Drive, is charged with aggravated and simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless endangerment. He was arrested and arraigned Friday.

According to an Arnold police affidavit, Granado told police he was changing the infant when the boy wet himself in Granado's face.

Granado said he “snapped” and “tossed the baby onto the changing table.”

The boy was 7 weeks old when he was assaulted Sept. 4. The suspect was alone with the child.

Children and Youth Services workers told police the injuries allegedly happened in the mother's residence. The baby's mother told police Granado was watching the baby so she could go to the grocery store. The baby began screaming, vomiting and having seizures. Two days later, the child's mother and grandmother took the child to Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for treatment.

District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. arraigned him. Granado was released on a $50,000 non-monetary bond pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for Thursday.
