The father and stepmother of a 10-year-old girl whose badly burned body was found at a Lawrenceville, Ga., apartment complex on Saturday were arrested and charged in connection with her death.
Eman and Tiffany Moss are being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Detention Center on charges of felony murder, cruelty to children and concealing the death of another, a jail spokeswoman told ABCNews.com.
Police dispatch received a 911 call from Eman Moss at 3:43 a.m. on Saturday morning, Gwinnett County Sgt. Brian Doan told ABCNews.com.
The man indicated he was suicidal, and that his daughter had died after drinking a type of chemical, police said. He told police that the girl's body was with him inside the apartment.
Officers who responded found the man standing outside the Landmark at Coventry Pointe Apartments on Veranda Chase. Doan said that when they arrived he pointed to a trash can in the recreational area where there were picnic tables.
Officers lifted the lid and inside found the girl's body, which they said had been burned, although the cause of the girl's death had not been confirmed.
Police identified the girl as Emani Moss.
It is not known if the couple has pending court date or if they have an attorney, the jail spokeswoman said.
