This is a case of forced out-of-state visitation with an abuser, who then murdered the child. No, the reporter doesn't bother to report those details, which is why the account as written is so vague. But the mother has explained the situation in the comments below. Absolutely horrible...our prayers are with you, Mom.
Dad is identified as WILFRIDE EXILASSE.

Deputies: Father beats son, 4, to death
6:41 p.m. EST, September 14, 2012|By Desiree Stennett, Orlando Sentinel
The father of a 4-year-boy who died after suffering for months with serious head injuries was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder.
Wilfride Exilasse's charges stem from a May 30 beating that severely injured his son, Elijah Exilasse. Orange County deputies said the boy's injuries were life-threatening and doctors from Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children believed if Elijah survived he might be brain dead.
The boy and his mother moved to Colorado and on Sept. 1, Elijah died from complications of blunt-force head trauma.
Exilasse, 27, initially faced child-abuse charges. After Elijah's death, the charges were upgraded to murder. A spokesman for the Sheriff's Office said Exilasse gave conflicting stories about what happened, but those details were not released Friday.

What are you saying "too bad I didn't move to Colorado before Elijah dad beat him"??? First off let me start telling you since nobody can't get there facts straight. I'm Felicia Lubin the mother of Elijah A. Exilasse... I lived in Floida all my life up until July 3rd, 2010 where me and my kids had moved to. I am married to my husband that has been living in Colorado... I've attended Everst College ad graduated worked a full time job s well to have stability for my children. On November 0f 2011 I got served court papers from Trinity Law Firm fron Longwood Florida for Jakeiba Mobely that assisted Wilfred Exilasse to gain visitation for Elijah which I so did not agree to... I had no choice they finalized it and the provisions I had to follow or else there were going to be repurcussions if I did not follow that child custody order as planned. Wilfred Exilasse flew to Colorado and picked up my son on May 7th, 2012... I get a call on May 31st and I was told my son was hospitalized in Arnold Palmer and that Wilfred Exilasse was arrested I flew down there immediatley that's when I seen my son in the condition that he was in after I had a conference with ICU team... so get your facts straight about where I lived and who I was in a relationship with... becaue NEVER I WAS MARRIED TO THIS MAN... FEB 27TH, 2007 I TOLD THIS MAN I WAS PREGANANT WITH HIS CHILD AND ALL HE DID WAS OFFERED MONEY FOR AN ABORTION AND HE COULDN'T TAKE CARE OF A BABY CAUSE ALL HE DOES IS DRINK, SMOKE AND DO WHATEVER.... I HAVE TO TAKE THIS BURDEN OF MY SON DYING, I BURIED MY SON IN OSCEOLA MEMORIAL GARDENS ON SEPT. 15TH, 2012... SO PLEASE STOP SAYING WHAT YOU'RE SAYING ABOUT ME BECAUSE THAT I NOT RIGHT, AND WHATEVER it is you are plotting towards me need to stop right now... when my son looks at me he see no wrong.... my child did not deserve this at all! NO CHILD DESERVE THIS AT ALL!
ReplyDeleteMy complete sympathy for your loss. if you read other posts carefully, you'll see that we are always criticizing the media for failing to report the back story. For failing to tell the story of how those in authority set up these crimes by failng to help protective mothers. i suspected there was a back story here, that you had been denied a moveaway or something like that and i was right. I am not blaming you or other moms in these situations. i am blaming the courts that cater to abusive fathers.
ReplyDeleteIts okay I just talked to the reporter that wrote this articale and I told her the actual truth on my end and she is going to call me back today to see if she can put my son as th spotlight of the his death... I do apologize in going off... I had not a minute sleep thinking about my son passing and all this media screw ups about me moving to Colorado... on the record, me and my son's father never had any court order of any sort besides me putting him on child support... my son is gone and I just want my son to be here... If I can do anything to save all the children in this world from being abused and neglected I can, and I make sure I'm going to make a movement. And its going to start today.
ReplyDeleteNo need to apologize, Felicia. I wish I had the time and resources to investigate these cases beyond what the media reports. Because the media TYPICALLY leaves out the custody issues that have set up these crimes, as well as the names of the people involved. You are not alone in what happened to you. There are way too many mothers who have been in your shoes. If you see the "pages" listed in the left column, you'll see an ongoing list of children killed by their fathers in situations involving custody, visitation and/or child support. I have well over 200 on the list, and there are many more cases I don't know about because the media "neglects" to point out the custody, visitation and/or child support issues. I wouldn't have really been clear on what happened to you except that you told me, and I thank you for letting me know.
