Dad charged with 1st-degree murder in beating death of 4-year-old son (Orlando, Florida)

This is a case of forced out-of-state visitation with an abuser, who then murdered the child. No, the reporter doesn't bother to report those details, which is why the account as written is so vague. But the mother has explained the situation in the comments below. Absolutely horrible...our prayers are with you, Mom.

Dad is identified as WILFRIDE EXILASSE.

Deputies: Father beats son, 4, to death

6:41 p.m. EST, September 14, 2012|By Desiree Stennett, Orlando Sentinel

The father of a 4-year-boy who died after suffering for months with serious head injuries was arrested Thursday and charged with first-degree murder.

Wilfride Exilasse's charges stem from a May 30 beating that severely injured his son, Elijah Exilasse. Orange County deputies said the boy's injuries were life-threatening and doctors from Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children believed if Elijah survived he might be brain dead.

The boy and his mother moved to Colorado and on Sept. 1, Elijah died from complications of blunt-force head trauma.

Exilasse, 27, initially faced child-abuse charges. After Elijah's death, the charges were upgraded to murder. A spokesman for the Sheriff's Office said Exilasse gave conflicting stories about what happened, but those details were not released Friday.
