"Caretaker" dad charged with beating up 7-week-old daughter--on Mom's first day back at work (West Harrison, Indiana)

Somewhere in Dastardly Dads, I posted a story just like this. Of a "caretaker" daddy who freaked out on the baby on Mom's very first day of returning to work.

Well, it's happened again. Mom had just returned to work after a 7-week maternity leave (These are the crumbs that American moms have come to accept). So then dad JOSHUA SCHULKERS was drafted to play "stay-at-home" (deadbeat abuser) daddy.

Apparently, this piece of crap couldn't get through ONE FREAKING DAY without fracturing the baby's skull, breaking six ribs, and lacerating her liver.

Last Updated: October 6, 2011 12:48:24 pm

Update posted Friday, October 7 at 7:01 a.m.:

West Harrison, Ind.) - A man has been charged after his infant daughter was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The seven-week-old daughter was taken from her home on Chappelow Ridge Road in West Harrison to Children's Hospital in Cincinnati on Monday. Doctors found that the baby had a fractured skull, six broken ribs, and a lacerated liver.
Police interviewed the father and boyfriend of the mother, 22-year-old Joshua Schulkers. He said he possibly caused the baby harm while watching her alone Monday. It was the mother's first day back at work since giving birth.

“He advised that as he was squeezing her then heard (the baby) make a sound and that he thought that he might have hurt her,” Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit detectives stated in a court affidavit detailing the charges.

Schulkers also told investigators that he bumped the child’s head on a changing table and dropped her onto a couch from about six to eight inches above the cushion which had a protruding board.

The doctors said the infant’s injuries could have been fatal if she had not been taken to the hospital.

After the questioning, Schulkers was arrested Tuesday on charges which include three counts of Neglect of a Dependant (Class B felony), Aggravated Battery (Class B felony), Battery Resulting In Serious Bodily Injury on a Child Less than 14 Years of Age (Class B felony), and Battery on a Child Less than 14 Years of Age (Class D felony).

Schulkers is being held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center in Lawrenceburg on $50,000 cash and $750,000 surety bond.
