SOUTH BEND — A 34-year-old South Bend father was charged Thursday with felony battery for allegedly striking his preteen child with a switch.
Anthony Collier Sr. admitted to detectives that he lost his temper when disciplining the child in April, and struck the child’s back and arms with a flexible tree stick for about two to three minutes, according to court documents.
The child sustained marks on the back and arms, prosecutors said.
Collier also told detectives that he did not normally discipline the child that way and if he had the chance he would apologize.
