Dad sentenced for shooting death of 3-year-old son (Albuquerque, New Mexico)

Still scratching my head and trying to figure out how one "accidentally" shoots a 3-year-old child....

Dad HECTOR GARCIA-SALAS gets only 15 years in prison for his little "accident"--even though this sh^& was already on "felony probation" at the time of this "accident." And even though he tried to cover up his "accident."

Um, yea. And where was Mom while Daddy was having these "accidents"? Why was a guy on "felony probation" allowed around a young child at all, especially in an apparently unsupervised situation?

INVISIBLE MOTHER ALERT.

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An Albuquerque father involved in the shooting death of his young son was sentenced to 15 years Thursday.

Hector Garcia-Salas was already on felony probation in November of 2007 when he accidentally shot his 3-year-old son.

According to the District Attorney’s Office Garcia-Salas admitted to carrying his young son’s body outside, putting him on the sidewalk, as part of a plan to tell police his son had been shot in a drive-by shooting.

The young boy died from his injuries that same day.

Garcia-Salas pled guilty to several charges Thursday including Abandonment of a Child (Resulting in Death), Tampering with Evidence, Child Abuse, Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor and Felon in Possession of Firearm.
