NJ man faces upgraded charges in baby's death

BRIDGETON, N.J. (AP) — Prosecutors have upgraded charges against a southern New Jersey father accused of fatally injuring his infant son last month.

Nineteen-year-old Ronald Cuff Jr. of Vineland was arraigned Friday on murder and aggravated manslaughter charges in the death of his 2-month-old son. His bail was raised from $100,000 to $250,000.

Cuff initially was charged with aggravated assault and child endangerment after he allegedly shook the baby in their Vineland apartment on July 23. The boy was hospitalized and died from his injuries on Tuesday.

Cuff remained in the Cumberland County Jail on Friday. The prosecutor's office had no information on whether he has retained a lawyer.
