Dad gets 20 days in jail, "anger management" classes for breaking leg of 4-month-old daughter (St. Paul, Minnesota)
Like many of these dads, WILLIAM GRANT WITTSTOCK "got frustrated" while trying to change the diapers of his infant daughter, and broke her leg. There are a suprisingly high number of cases like this. Check out the "diapers/potty-training" tab below for other examples. This kind of abuse seems to be particularly common in male parents, who in too many cases lack the patience and nurturing abilities necessary for infant care. And yet we continually push father "involvement" propaganda that says that all these volatile young men "should" be wiping off baby butts and comforting a crying infant. In too many cases, it's just not working....

For breaking his 4-month-old daughter's leg, a St. Paul father was sentenced this morning to anger management and 20 days in jail.
William Grant Wittstock also must stay away from his daughter until a judge lifts a no-contact order.
Wittstock, 24, wiped his eyes on his grey T-shirt while he stood before Ramsey County District Judge Gary Bastian.
His attorney said he "feels terrible" about what happened.
"If parents don't protect their children, I don't know who will," Bastian said.
The infant was not cooperating with her diapering March 30, so Wittstock got frustrated. He grabbed both her legs and "pulled the legs apart while twisting them," then heard a pop, according to a criminal complaint in the case.
The baby suffered a mid-femur fracture.
Wittstock pleaded guilty June 13 to felony malicious punishment of a child.
He has a 15-month prison term hanging over his head if he does not comply with terms of his five-year probation.
