Slasher dad to face psych review for attack on 11-month-old son (Calgary, Canada)
Wonder if UNNNAMED DAD will get his get-out-of-jail-free card out of this "psychiatric review," just like confessed killer dad GUY TURCOTTE did over in Quebec....

Accused of slashing baby, dad to face psych review
Calgary Herald August 23, 2011
A Calgary father charged with attempted murder in the slashing attack on his 11-month-old son has been ordered to undergo a 30-day psychiatric examination.
Provincial court Judge Cheryl Daniel on Monday ordered the assessment for the 32-year-old man after it was recommended by both his lawyer Alain Hepner and Crown prosecutor Margot Engley.
The father will spend the next month at the Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatric Centre before returning to court on Sept. 23.
The accused and the victim cannot be named because of a publication ban imposed by the judge at the prosecutor's request.
Hepner said outside court it was a "very emotional" case because of the nature of the offence and that forensic psychiatrist Dr. Liya Xie had recommended the probe after meeting briefly with the accused last week.
"From what little I know, the background story will surface as to what happened," said Hepner. "I'm just getting the basic facts right now."
Police said they arrived at the bungalow on Aug. 13 and found the boy in the kitchen bleeding from "substantial" knife slashes to the throat and belly.
They said the father was upset when he called 911 about 4: 15 a.m. and, when authorities arrived, the man was arrested without incident.
The baby was taken to Alberta Children's Hospital.
Hepner said outside court he could not comment on the condition of the child, who is expected to recover.
Police said the 26-year-old mother lives in the home, but wasn't in the residence when the baby was attacked.
