Protesters denounce verdict in case of children stabbed to death by father (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)

Dad GUY TURCOTTE admits that he stabbed his two kids to death, but managed to play the mental health card and get off. Never mind that he had NO HISTORY of persistent or serious mental illness up until then. Folks are furious--as they have the right to be. And the fathers rights people insist that only moms play the mental health card--not even close.

MONTREAL - Demonstrators are gathering in cities across Quebec today to protest a jury's decision in the high-profile murder case of a man who stabbed his children to death.

Former cardiologist Guy Turcotte stabbed his two young children 46 times while they were lying in their beds, but was found not criminally responsible for his actions in a verdict delivered last month.

Protestors outside a Montreal courthouse say they're upset with the verdict and the justice system.

Isabelle Gaston, Turcotte's ex-wife and the mother of the two children who were killed, was at the Montreal protest.

She says she wants stricter guidelines for when a not-criminally-responsible verdict can be rendered.

Turcotte admitted to having caused the deaths in 2009 but denied criminal intent.

He said he only remembered flashes of what happened that evening and couldn't explain why he killed his children.

Protests are also planned for Quebec City and a dozen other cities across the province.
