HONOLULU -- The son of a man accused of stabbing his wife to death in their Kalihi home two years ago testified in court on Monday.
Melchor and Erlinda Adviento's youngest son, who was 11 at the time, said he was upstairs playing video games with neighbors when they heard screaming coming from below.
He described it lasting for a few minutes and as loud an air horn.
When he got downstairs all he could hear was his father's voice, the boy said.
"She yelled, 'Ah! Ah! Help me! Come downstairs! Call 911!'" he said.
"What is it that your dad said?" the prosecutor asked.
"He said, 'No, everything's fine,' but at the end of what he said it didn't sound very good," the boy said.
In weeks prior to the stabbing, other witnesses testified the couple fought about cheating on each other and discussed divorce.
The son, who is now 13, also testified his mother seemed to be more than friends with a male co-worker.
