Dad JOHN O'KANE is charged with the murder of his 4-month-old son. Dad has pleaded not guilty, despite the fact that he showed the police where the baby was buried.

A 40-year-old man charged with the murder of his four-month-old son will plead not guilty.
Police suspect John O'Kane killed his four-month-old son Zach and buried the body in bushland near Collie in early January.

Major Crime Squad detectives found the body of the baby after O'Kane led police to a shallow grave site in in Wellington National Park.

Police said O'Kane told his de-facto partner he would be taking his son to visit family in Langford but they suspect the baby was killed the same day.

Police claim O'Kane kept the baby in the boot of his car for a few days before burying him in the national park.

O'Kane appeared in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court today via videolink from Hakea Prison but did not speak.

His lawyer Terry Dobson told Magistrate Keith Chapman his client intended to plead not guilty to the murder charge.

O'Kane was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court next month.
