Dad gets full child custody after murder charges dropped for killing child's mother...over child custody (Spokane, Washington)
Headline is actually incorrect if you read through article. Dad JON RITCHEY was charged with murder in the kidnapping and point-blank, shot-in-the-face murder of the mother. The motive: she apparently wanted child custody (and for good reason, given the kind of person he obviously is).
And now the corrupt, FR-infested legal system has dropped the murder charges and given the killer FULL CUSTODY. Daddy, we're told, is all cool, 'cause he's taking one of the fathering classes--probably one of those "classes" designed to help violent felons get custody.
Sounds unbelievable, but this sh** is happening every day now.
Unfortunately, the legislation remedy suggested is all wrong. We don't need laws guaranteeing grandparents visitation. We need laws blocking killers and violent felons from getting any custody rights. Period.

Sins of the Father: Man who gave assistance to girlfriend's killer will get to raise their son

SPOKANE, Wash. - In a few short weeks, the 4-year-old son of a murdered Spokane woman will be taken away from the only parents he knows, and given to the man who gave criminal assistance to his mother's killer.
"It's like losing my best friend," said David Wilson.
March 11, 2013, was the worst day imaginable for David and Carrie Wilson. Carrie had to identify her daughter by her tattoos.
"It has taken me 2.5 years just to be able to just look at her picture and just see her and not the big hole in her face," Carried said.
Court documents paint a brutal picture of Heather's final moments of life. Heather was kidnapped and handcuffed. She was able to briefly break free, only to be caught by her killer near SFCC and shot at point-blank range in the face.
"To tell you the truth, I didn't want to live. I wanted to die," Carrie said.
Police only added to their agony when they told the Wilsons who was behind Heather's death. Detectives arrested the father of Heather's child, Jon Ritchey, along with his uncle, Gary Stoddard. Prosecutors charged them both with murder. Court documents point to the possible motive: Who would get to raise the couple's little boy.
"He's the one who had everything to lose when Heather said she was going to take him to court for custody," Carrie said. "Seems like two weeks after that, she was gone."
With the child's mother dead and his father in jail, David and Carrie were all he had. Slowly, together, they started rebuilding their lives. That was until that deep wound was reopened.
Jon Ritchey's murder charge was dropped. In its place was a plea deal for rendering criminal assistance in Heather's murder. With credit for time served, Ritchey was a free man. And the worst was yet to come for Heather's family. Jon Ritchey wanted his child back.
After a four day trial, a judge awarded him full custody.
"If he would have been a drug addict who got clean, you know, I understand that part," Carried said. "But he was involved in a murder, and of the child's mother. Where should he have any rights? He took those rights from Heather. She never gets to see her little boy again."
Right now, Ritchey gets weekly play dates and therapy sessions with his son. Overnight visits will come in June and by July, the boy will be out of the place he's called home for the past three years.
"I felt like I was being torn up from the inside out," David said. "He's my child."
The law disagrees. The court decided Mr. Ritchey is currently able to meet his son's basic needs and has the capacity for providing appropriate parenting and care for him. They said he's employed and even enrolled himself in a nurturing father's class since his release from jail.
Spokane Family Law Attorney David Crouse has been doing this job for more than 20 years and said this is how our state works.
"There's absolutely no question that you do have to move mountains now to prove that biological parent is unfit," he said.
Crouse said Washington judges have to look at the current status of the biological parent.
"It makes a lot of people involved in the system sad," he said.
But not as sad as Carrie and David who will soon live again with that all too familiar ache of loss.
The grandparents are working on an appeal but they're financially strapped. If the appeal doesn't work, the only way Carrie and David will see the boy again is if Jon Ritchey agrees to that.
Grandparents in Washington don't have rights to their grandkids like other states. The group Grandparents Rights of Washington State is pushing initiative 1431.
It would give grandparents the ability to petition the court for visitation. They need 250,000 signatures showing support by July 8. If they succeed, it will be on the November ballot.

Custodial dad pleads guilty to 2nd-degree murder in beating death of 3-year-old son; was "angry" about "potty training issues" (Tacoma, Washington)
Read between the lines. Dad KINGSA MCNIGHT had to be custodial, with Mom having little to no contact or visitation. Otherwise, there is no way this child could have been dying at home for 8 days without Mom knowing or intervening. So how did this violent killer dad get custody? Who gave it to him? And why was he sleeping with a 3-year-old who supposedly wet the bed?

Father sentenced to 28 years for beating 3-year-old son to death over bed wetting

TACOMA — A Tacoma man was sentenced Friday to 28 years in prison for beating his 3-year-old son to death because he became angry over the toddler’s bed wetting.
Kingsa McKnight, 34, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and first-degree assault for the 2014 beating death of his son.
According to prosecutors, McKnight took his son to an urgent care center on June 13, 2014, because he was lethargic and vomiting. The nurse told him the child needed to be taken to an emergency room immediately, but instead McKnight took his son home.
Eight days later, the boy lost consciousness and his father took him to the hospital, where the child was placed on life support. Prosecutors said the boy had bruises on his head and chest, and a CT scan revealed two subdural hemorrhages and a skull fracture. Doctors determined the head injuries were inflicted just a few hours before the child’s arrival at the hospital.
Further testing revealed the boy had suffered a liver laceration and a rib fracture at different times during the last month.
On June 23, the boy was taken off life support and died.
The victim’s mother — who lived separately from the husband — told detectives that McKnight was angry because the child was having potty training issues.
McKnight told detectives that he shared a bed with his son, and his son had wet the bed the two previous nights, prosecutors said.

Girlfriend of custodial dad arrested in murder of 17-month-old boy; what happened to Mom? (Seattle, Washington)
LOTS of unanswered questions here.
FIRST, who decided to give sole custody to a father, AT MINIMUM, who was neglectful and very possibly physically abusive himself? Let's see the name of the judge, please. Along with all the social service people who went along for the ride.
SECOND, why wasn't Daddy arrested for failure to protect? Mothers are routinely arrested for this when their boyfriends hurt or kill their kids, even if the POS was beating and threatening them as well.
But no. At minimum, Daddy dumped caretaking responsibilities on a suicidal, self-cutting woman with drug addiction issues. What could possibly go wrong?
THIRD, There was previous evidence that abuse was taking place. Why didn't Dad intervene? Maybe because he was also an abuser and he and his enabler family were happy for the girlfriend to take the hit? Why did CPS let a custodial dad off the hook, as they so often do?
FOURTH, why has the murdered boy's mother been completely erased from the story?

Police arrest woman after West Seattle toddler's death
By LYNSI BURTON, SEATTLEPI.COM STAFF
Updated 10:10 pm, Friday, October 2, 2015
Seattle police arrested a 20-year-old woman Thursday in connection with the death of a 17-month-old boy in West Seattle.
Court records indicate the woman, after her arrest, admitted kicking the baby twice in the abdomen the day he died.
Officers responded to the 6500 block of California Avenue Southwest last Sunday after the woman found the baby -- her boyfriend's child -- unresponsive in his crib, police reports say.
The baby's father attempted CPR and called 911, court records say, but medics declared the boy dead at the scene.
The King County Medical Examiner ruled Tuesday that the child's death was a homicide.
The couple lived together in West Seattle with the father's 17-month-old child and the woman's 2-year-old boy.
The baby was examined at Children's Hospital on Sept. 20 for an unrelated matter, when doctors noticed suspicious-looking cuts and bruises on the child and referred their concerns to Child Protective Services, according to the probable cause affidavit. The boy was nonetheless released to his father.
The boy's father and his father's girlfriend were his sole caregivers.
A week after the doctor visit, medics responded to the family's home about 4:12 p.m. and found the boy pale, cold to the touch and covered in vomit. The boy had no known medical conditions, court records say.
Police examining the boy in the back of an ambulance noticed blood coming from his left ear and bruises on his face and body, documents say. They alerted the Homicide Unit to the case.
An autopsy determined the boy died of severe abdominal trauma.
Initially, neither the 20-year-old woman nor her boyfriend appeared to know what happened to the child.
The woman told police the boy had been mopey in the week before his death, according to the probable cause. The day he died, his father went to the store while the woman was giving the boy a bath and later put him down for a nap because the boy was "wobbly" as he walked.
She denied she or her boyfriend ever assaulted the boy, but said her own son sometimes abused the child.
A couple that stayed at the family's home for a few days in September told investigators that the woman struggled with drug addiction and became angry and agitated toward the 17-month-old boy when she was on drugs or suffering withdrawal symptoms, reports say. The couple said the woman would spank or flick him, but nothing forceful. However, they expressed concern about her screaming at him when he cried.
A forensic search of the woman's phone indicated that her boyfriend and his family accused her of killing the boy, court records say.
Authorities served a warrant at the family's home about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, only to find the boyfriend reporting that his girlfriend had tried to kill herself the previous night by cutting her legs, the probable cause states. She reportedly did not admit to killing the boy, but he and his family thought she did, he told police.
Police detained the woman and took her to police headquarters. There, she admitted to kicking the boy twice after he and her son fought over a toy, police reports say. She claimed the first kick knocked the child down and then she delivered a second blow. She then said she put the boy in his playpen and noticed he stopped breathing a short time later.
Cops booked her into King County Jail for investigation of homicide and she remains held on $1 million bail.

SHELTON — Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after a 17-month-old child was found dead next to their 52-year-old father Thursday night in Mason County.
Mason County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a call from a woman around 6 p.m. Thursday, asking that deputies check on her estranged husband and two small children at their home in the 700 block of E. Road near Lake Limerick.
The 32-year-old caller told police she recently separated from her husband, and was growing concerned about the welfare of her children since she couldn’t reach him on the phone. She told deputies her husband grew despondent following their separation.
Deputies responded to the home and smelled a strong odor of gasoline right outside the door, deputies said. When they entered, they found a 4-year-old boy sitting unharmed in the living-room area. The boy was escorted out of the home and reunited with his mother.
Further into the home, deputies found the 52-year-old father, identified as Sean Durcan, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 17-month-old child was found dead beside Durcan, deputies said. The manner of the child’s death was not immediately released.
Deputies are investigating the deaths.

Dad charged with 2nd-degree murder for beating death of 7-day-old son (Tacoma, Washington)

Prosecutors charge father in death of Tacoma toddler
By Stacia Glenn Staff writer June 8, 2015
A father imprisoned for beating his son was charged with second-degree murder Friday because the boy died more than a year after he was injured.
Joshua Sullivan Jr. was seven days old in 2013 when he was brought to the hospital with severe head trauma and internal bleeding.
Employees at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital called Tacoma police May 23, 2013, to report possible child abuse.
Doctors were concerned about bruising on the newborn’s mouth, cheekbone, back and left inner ear. He also was bleeding from his lip and umbilical cord, records show.
His parents denied knowing what happened to the boy. Officers noted the father, Joshua Sullivan, showed no emotion. Sullivan “eventually admitted that he did get frustrated with the baby,” according to court documents.
Child Protective Services took Joshua and the mother’s two other children and placed them with foster families.
In February 2014, Sullivan pleaded guilty to first-degree child assault and was sentenced to 16 years and six months in prison.
Seven months later, Joshua died. A medical examiner ruled the toddler’s death a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head months earlier.
“The injuries were determined to be the result of apparent shaking,” according to charging papers.
Pneumonia also contributed to his death.
Pierce County prosecutors have charged Sullivan, now 20, with second-degree murder in the case and requested he be transferred from a corrections center to face the new charge.
An arraignment date has not been set.

Dad admits slamming head of 5-week-old baby against the wall (Everett, Washington)
Dad is identified as ANDRE J. ASH. Notice that there is mention of a grandmother, but no mother in the home or elsewhere.

Father arrested after baby suffers fractured skull, ribs, leg, wrist
The man, identified as Andre J. Ash, 34, was booked into Snohomish County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of second-degree child assault.
The abuse came to light when the little boy's grandmother noticed swelling on the baby's head and the child was taken to Children's Hospital.
Doctors there found that the baby had a large fracture along the whole right side of his skull, 15 fractured ribs, a leg fracture, a wrist fracture and a foot injury. They said the injuries could only have been caused by abuse.
Ash initially denied knowing how the baby could have been injured. Under questioning, he then said he may have accidentally injured the child or that he may have gotten hurt by rolling off the couch.
Eventually, however, Ash told investigators that he had shaken the baby and hit his head against the wall on more than one occasion, according to the police report.
He also told police he had squeezed the baby hard to maintain his grip on the child while shaking him, and this may have caused the rib fractures. And on another occasion he said he lost his grip on the baby and grabbed him by his leg, which could have caused the leg injury, the police report says.
He told investigators he was sorry for what he had done, and wanted to tell his son, "I am sorry, and I love him."
The baby was placed in protective custody. Despite his severe injuries, he is expected to make a full recovery because there was no neurological damage and his retinas had not become detached.
Ash was arrested and booked into jail. He is considered a flight risk because he has few community ties and most of his family resides in California, according to police.

EVERETT, Wash. - A Mukilteo man is under arrest after he admitted shaking his 5-week-old baby son and slamming the baby's head against the wall, according to police reports filed in Superior Court.

Custodial dad stabs mom's new boyfriend, takes off with 1-year-old son; who gave this violent father custody? (San Pedro, California)
Of course the media doesn't even bother to ask why a violent father who stabbed the mother's new boyfriend would have been granted custody of an infant, now just 1-year of age.
Mother is so beaten down by the system that she is swearing not to call the police, if only the kidnapper daddy will call her and let her know the baby is okay.
This is the triumph of fathers rights, folks. Mothers groveling. Abusive, entitled fathers getting worse and worse.
Dad is identified as GIOVANY SANTIAGO-RODRIQUEZ.

CHP Issues Amber Alert For 1-Year-Old Boy Taken From San Pedro
March 9, 2015 6:00 PM
SAN PEDRO (CBSLA.com) — A statewide Amber Alert was issued Monday for a 1-year-old boy who authorities suspect was taken by a 37-year-old man.
The missing child, a Hispanic male, was identified by the California Highway Patrol as Jayden Santiago. Authorities believe Santiago was taken at 1:30 a.m. Monday in San Pedro.
The CHP identified the child abduction suspect as Giovany Santiago-Enriquez, who they say may be driving a 2006 gray Nissan Altima with a California license plate of 5UCF010.
Santiago-Enriquez is the child’s father and has legal custody. However, he is accused of stabbing his former girlfriend’s boyfriend early Monday morning.
“Just bring him back. Just please bring him safe, at least keep him safe. Call me. I won’t even call the cops. Like, I won’t,” Christy Martinez, the child’s mother, said. “I just want to know he’s OK.”
The child weighs 26 pounds and was wearing a brown and green onesie with black and white Nike shoes. Santiago-Enriquez is 5-foot-8 and weighs 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black beanie, black sweater, and gray and black Nike shoes.
Authorities said the man is to be considered armed and dangerous and should be approached with caution. He may be traveling to known contacts in Mexico or the state of Washington, authorities said.
Anyone with information as to their whereabouts was asked to dial 911 to report possible sightings or the Los Angeles Police Department Harbor Division at (310) 726-7700.

Dad pleads guilty to 2nd-degree murder in death of 2-year-old daughter; wanted to punish mom for leaving him (Tacoma, Washington)
Oh this poor mother. The father of her child is a crazy, volatile, manipulative a$$hole who immediately threatens suicide when she announces she is leaving him. He attempts to kill himself with a dog leash no less. She calls 911, but he is out of the psych hospital THE VERY NEXT DAY. Really? He's cured in 24 hours?
Too bad he wasn't successful. Though some might blame her for "allowing" him to babysit, she really had little choice. If she didn't "allow" his participation, it would have accelerated his anger and sense of entitlement. He no doubt would have gone to court and got COURT-ORDERED custody rights. Possibly even full custody. It's certainly happened before. Then she really would have been stripped over any control over the situation.
Dad is identified as SALVATOR SANCHEZ-OROZCO.

Tacoma father pleads guilty to squeezing his 2-year-old daughter to death

TACOMA — A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to killing his 2-year-old daughter last year by squeezing her to death in his Tacoma apartment.
Salvador Sanchez-Orozco pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge. He will be sentenced on Feb. 27.
“The defendant murdered a child he’s supposed to protect,” Pierce County prosecutor Mark Lindquist said. “This is domestic violence at its worst, killing a child to punish the mother.”
According to the prosecutors, in January 2014, Sanchez-Orozco became distraught because his wife wanted a separation. He attempted to hang himself with a dog leash, but his wife called 911. He was involuntarily committed to a mental hospital, but was released the next day.
The wife moved to her parents’ home in Graham with their daughter, and occasionally allowed Sanchez-Orozco to babysit their daughter.
On Feb. 11, 2014, Sanchez-Orozco drove to the home in Graham and became upset when he discovered a male friend of his wife there. His wife allowed Sanchez-Orozco to spend the day with their daughter.
He took her to his Tacoma apartment, sat the toddler on his lap, wrapped his arms around her and squeezed until she stopped breathing, police said. Then he called 911 and told the operator he had killed his daughter. He again wrapped a dog leash around his neck, but again failed to kill himself.
When deputies arrived, he had the leash around his neck and the 2-year-old girl was dead. He had written a suicide note saying he was going to kill himself and “take my daughter with me.”

TACOMA, Wash. -- A Tacoma mother is mourning the loss of her daughter, who died Sunday nearly 15 years after she was violently shaken by her biological father.
Shannon Stiles said her daughter, Baylee, died from complications stemming from the abuse.
At 3 months old, Baylee was rushed to the hospital in January 2000, Stiles said. Doctors determined Baylee suffered severe head trauma and quickly suspected child abuse. Baylee's biological father, who was Stiles' fiance at the time, was arrested several weeks later on the same day Baylee was released from the hospital, she added.
"I was 19-years-old. I had to grow up then," Stiles said. "I had to be a mom of a disabled child. She ate through a feeding tube into her stomach. She never rolled over. She never sat up on her own."
Baylee's father eventually pleaded guilty to second degree child assault and served about two years of his 46-month sentence, court records show.
Baylee would undergo nearly 20 surgeries and spent the next 15 years not being able to walk, talk, or do anything on her own, Stiles said. Baylee's health started to decline rapidly in December 2014. Stiles made the difficult decision to pull her off life support several weeks later.
"They let me climb in bed with her, and I just wrapped myself around her, held her hand, wrapped my knees around her knees, and let her take her last breath. And then I laid in bed with her for an hour until after she passed," Stiles said.
Stiles blames Baylee's biological father for her daughter's death.
"If it wasn't for him hurting her, she would be able to do anything to that she wanted to do," Stiles said. "I'm hoping he has to pay for taking my daughter's life away."
Stiles said she has nightmares about Baylee's final moments.
It's tough for Stiles to be inside her Tacoma home without her angel, she said. But she realizes it was where Baylee was at peace. It was where she was happy, Stiles said.
"I hope people will remember her love of music. Her love of family. Her smile. Her happiness," Stiles said. "Never shake a baby. If you're mad or upset or if a baby is crying and you're frustrated, put it down. A baby has never died from crying."
At this point, Baylee's father isn't facing any new charges because of her death.
Stiles said she hopes to hold a service for Baylee in late January.

KENNEWICK, Wash. --The death of a Kennewick two-year-old the day after Christmas is now ruled a homicide.
Police say they're investigating the child's death as "homicide by abuse."
Nicholas Torres died at sacred heart children's hospital -- it's believed ongoing abuse left him with extensive brain damage. No one is charged with his death yet, but according to the Tri-City Herald, the boy's father is in jail for allegedly telling another son to lie to investigators about what happened at home the day before Nicholas was hospitalized.
Child advocates say child abuse is often a crime that's hard to see.
"It's something that's really well hidden, it's not like someone walking into a store and grabbing an item and walking out with it, you can see that on cameras, there aren't very many cameras around children abuse," said Bikers Against Child Abuse member DOC.
Police wouldn't release any details in the case as it is still under investigation.

A 37-year-old Tumwater man accused of choking his 12-year-old son pleaded not guilty to second-degree child assault in Thurston County Superior Court on Tuesday morning.
The man was arrested Dec. 23 and later released on $5,000 bail.
The Tumwater Police Department began investigating the man when a woman reported that her ex husband had strangled their 12-year-old son, and that their 10-year-old daughter had witnessed the attack, according to court documents.
Officers interviewed the children, who said the boy had been playing with a toy kangaroo when their father jumped over a bed, tackled the boy to the ground and put his hand around the child’s throat, according to court documents. The boy told officers, “I was having a little trouble breathing.”

Dad with 12 previous felony convictions still gets joint custody, then leaves 2-year-old son alone in car during freezing temperatures for more than 5 hours (Spokane, Washington)
Well, a father with 12 PREVIOUS FELONY CONVICTIONS still gets awarded joint custody. Then the bozo gets mad at wife #2, leaves the house with his 2-year-old son dressed in nothing but pants, t-shirt, and a diaper, THEN LEAVES HIM ALONE for 5 HOURS in FREEZING TEMPERATURES. By the time the police retrieved him he clearly had symptoms of incipient hypothermia. Still, the clueless wife #2 swears he's a "good father." Not seeing much evidence of that, lady. Meanwhile, the reporter doesn't bother to find out what the mother thinks. Wonder if she is so thrilled that her son almost lost his life with this irresponsible moron.
So much for the fathers rights claims about how daddies don't get custody from the family courts. On the contrary, this father was totally coddled and indulged.

Man charged after leaving toddler son in car
Rachel Alexander The Spokesman-Review
A Spokane man is being charged with abandoning a child after leaving his 2-year-old son alone in a car on the South Hill for more than five hours in freezing temperatures.
Police contacted Charles B. Fife, 51, around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after a concerned employee at the Conoco station at 518 East 29th Ave. reported Fife had entered the store and told her he lost his car with his son inside.
Officers located the car with the boy inside around 9:45 p.m. According to court documents, the boy was wearing nothing but pants and a t-shirt. He was shivering, had bright red feet and did not respond to officers. His skin was cold to the touch and his diaper was soaked through.
The temperature outside was 33 degrees, with wind chill of 27 degrees. Witnesses told officers the car had been parked since at least 4:30 p.m.
Officers took the boy inside and gave him a blanket to warm up, but he continued shivering after about 10 minutes. He was taken to the hospital about half an hour after being taken from the car.
Once at the hospital, the boy kept pointing to his feet, saying “ow” and crying when they were touched.
Police spokeswoman Monique Cotton said the child was placed in protective custody with Child Protective Services.
Fife told officers he parked near Manito Park while his son was sleeping, walked around the block to find his friend, and then could not find the car.
According to court documents, he became “very upset and agitated” when asked about the incident.
Judge Michael Price said it was “quite a bizarre” incident after reviewing officer reports at Fife’s initial court appearance today.
“It just makes no sense to me at all,” he said. Fife’s wife, Lisa Fife, was present at court and said Fife took his son out to the park after the two of them were arguing about finances.
“We get along so well I think it got him distraught,” she said, saying it spoke to his character that he chose to leave the situation instead of letting it escalate.
Lisa Fife said she and her husband aren’t very familiar with South Hill, and suspected he may have been so upset from the argument that he forgot where he parked. She said he is a good father to his son and shares custody amicably with the boy’s mother.
“I don’t know what this is going to do to him, not being able to see him,” she said, adding that Fife “lives for” his son.
Prosecutor Ed Hay said Fife has twelve previous felony convictions, including armed robbery and conspiracy to possess a controlled substance.
But Lisa Fife said in spite of his past, her husband has no drug or mental health issues.
Fife remains in jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Rochester Man Pleads Guilty to Possession of Child Porn

A Rochester man has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography after he was arrested in an undercover investigation.
Alan Dale Burns, 34, appeared in shackles Monday at Thurston County Superior Court. He pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Burns had initially been charged with 16 counts, but 14 of those counts were dismissed Monday as part of the plea agreement.
Prosecutors have recommended a sentence of 34 months in prison, followed by 36 months of community custody. Burns will be required to register as a sex offender and undergo sexual deviancy evaluation and treatment, according to the court. Sentencing is set for Feb. 9. In an undercover operation, the FBI Dallas Child Exploitation Task Force in Texas had obtained several images of child pornography from a computer with an IP address from Rochester, according to court documents.
The IP address was eventually linked to Burns. Thurston County Sheriff’s Office detectives obtained a search warrant and arrested Burns on Sept. 11 at his Rochester home. At the time of his arrest, Burns was actively deleting files from his computer and Internet browsing history, according to documents.
Many of the images depicted sexual assaults against infants and toddlers by adult males, according to documents, with the ages of the victims estimated between six months and 8 years old.
Burns is the father of twin 2-year-olds, according to detectives, and it is unknown at this time whether the children were involved in the images or abuse. Documents state that detectives had seized an external hard drive, three computers and thumb drives, and a forensic analysis is underway.

Custodial dad finally convicted of sexual abuse; isolated girl from mother (Seattle, Washington)
This piece illustrates very clearly how a controlling and abusive rapist UNNAMED DAD isolated and sexually abused his daughter for years. It is also clear--if you read between the lines--that he must have gained custody after the divorce. How else could he have kept the mother apart from her daughter, even forbidding them from grocery shopping together? Unfortunately, because this piece is very rooted in "telling the story," there is no overall analysis. And there is certainly no analysis of how this father secured complete access to the victim, and what "experts" and judges helped him do this.

Why This Teen Stopped Hiding Her Dad's Abuse

As a senior at Lake Stevens High School, Ivy Jacobsen appeared confident. Blonde, popular, and a varsity athlete, her peers labeled her as the perfect girl next door. But Jacobsen said there was a time when she wasn't so confident.
"I was very insecure. I had many friends but I was still really shy," Jacobsen said. "I wasn't really comfortable with who I was, body-wise."
During middle school, Jacobsen's classmates picked on her. One of her former teachers, Larry Palmer, remembers how different she was from other kids. "She was a little bit more naive. You got the impression that she'd had a very sheltered life," he said.
As a child, Jacobsen spent a lot of time with her father. He taught her how to cook, clean, ski, snowboard and play basketball, her favorite sport.
Their apparent bond masked a secret that haunted Jacobsen for years. She was only allowed to have certain numbers on her cell phone. She couldn't have an email account, and she couldn't use the Internet.
Her wardrobe was even dictated by her father. She wasn't allowed to wear tight jeans, or anything "girly." When she had to dress up for basketball events, Jacobsen said her dad would "have to be with" her at the store. "I'd have to try on every article of clothing and get his approval. It was horrid because I couldn't ever wear what I wanted to wear," she said.
But Jacobsen acted like everything was normal. "I was roleplaying," she said. "I was hiding behind a story, hiding behind what my dad was doing to me."
What Jacobsen's father was doing was sexually abusing her, from the time she was in the sixth grade. The abuse went on for five years, until Jacobsen told her best friend during her sophomore year.
The abuse affected every part of Jacobsen's life, including what she loved most -- the thing that bonded her and her father the most -- basketball.
"In order for me to get new basketball shoes, I'd have to do certain things for him, sexually," Jacobsen said.
Jacobsen's mother explained that she didn't know her daughter was being sexually abused. Her ex-husband kept mother and daughter apart. The two couldn't even do things like grocery shopping together.
A few days after that conversation with her friend, Jacobsen's dad was arrested. Jacobsen was terrified that coming forward would tear her family apart, but she knew she was doing the right thing.
Her story is uncommon: 86 percent of sexually abused children don't report their abuse.
Jacobsen went on to do something unimaginable, yet necessary for her freedom: testify against her father in court.
When Jacobsen saw her father on the stand, she "literally felt naked." And she would have to get used to that feeling of intense vulnerability. She went on to testify against her father two more times over 18 months during her sophomore and junior years of high school.
In July 2013, after three separate trials, Jacobsen's father was convicted of rape of a child and child molestation. He's currently serving 16 years in prison.
After the last trial, Jacobsen's process of rebuilding her life began. "My main thing was to get my body back," she recalled. "I realized, wow, I can go shopping! I can wear what I want to wear. I can be me.'"
"Junior and senior year was totally about me becoming Ivy," she said.
Soon Jacobsen was getting ready to graduate from Lake Stevens High School. Of 500 students in her graduating class, she was selected as one of the speakers for graduation.
She started writing her graduation speech about pursuing and achieving dreams, but then realized it was too ordinary. She threw the speech away. She knew it wasn't what she was supposed to write.
She had already told her close friends about her past, but there were going to be 6,000 people at graduation. When the big day came Jacobsen was nervous, because she was about to tell all those people what happened to her. #In Jacobsen's speech, she started talking about a girl she knew:
"There was this girl. She was manipulated at a young age. She could only wear certain things to school, and could only talk to particular people.
"She was socially and culturally inept. Also, behind the scenes, her father had started to rape her when she was in the sixth grade.
"She did not know that what he was doing was wrong. Last July 15, her father was finally put into prison.
"Where is this girl now? She is standing before all of you. I am that girl."
Today, Jacobsen is working three jobs and taking online classes through Everett Community College. She has moved into a place of her own. She's writing a book about her experience. She's making her own decisions based on what she wants.
Jacobsen's mother, Jenifer Jacobsen, said that if her daughter hadn't come forward, they'd still be in the same awful situation today. "She's an inspiration to many, but she is truly my hero."

Dad who murdered 6-year-old daughter was CUSTODIAL (Pierce County, Washington)
So who gave this obviously unstable father custody? Notice it apparently doesn't even occur to Daddy that he might call Mom to take their daughter if he's feeling suicidal. No, he has to kill the little girl too, which is a true sign of a sociopathic control freak. Not sure why the killer is still an UNIDENTIFIED DAD.

SOUTH HILL, Wash. - Investigators have found the body of a 58-year-old man and his 6-year-old daughter inside an apartment in South Hill, and it appears to be a case of murder-suicide, Pierce County sheriff's officials.
"Unfortunately, we have a deceased 6-year-old girl who appears to have been killed by her father and then killed himself," said Det. Ed Troyer.
Deputies responded to the apartment, in the 17700 block of 85th Avenue Court East, on Tuesday morning after a concerned neighbor called 911, Troyer said. The neighbor told deputies that the 58-year-old man had been acting suicidal Monday night and was talking of going far away.
The neighbor also said the man and his 6-year-old daughter were scheduled to be evicted from their apartment on Tuesday morning.
The neighbor went to check on the pair on Tuesday morning, but received no answer at the door and called 911.
When deputies arrived, they found broken glass outside the apartment and the window blinds were in disarray. Entering the apartment, they found the two bodies.
Troyer said the investigation takes on a much more somber mood when there are kids involved.
"Bring your kid to a fire station, a hospital, call somebody or do something," Troyer said. "You don’t need to take them with you."
Troyer said the man was a single father and the mother was in Utah, and there had been no history of calls to police at the apartment.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner is removing the bodies from the scene on Tuesday afternoon. The causes of death were not immediately available

Dad kills 6-year-old daughter in murder-suicide; what happened to this girl's mother?(Pierce County, Washington)
We're told by a neighbor that the killer and his daughter "kept to themselves" (translation: control freak father kept young daughter isolated from other people). Dad was apparently being evicted and "acting suicidal" before the murder. No mention of a mother anywhere. I'm thinking UNNAMED DAD was custodial. But how? Who gave him custody? What happened to this murdered girl's mother?

Dad pleads not guilty to assaulting 7-year-old son (Olympia, Washington)
So, it appears sicko UNNAMED DAD beat the kids more if they "jumped" the first time he hit them with a belt. Niiice.

Olympia man pleads not guilty to child abuse

A 29-year-old Olympia man pleaded not guilty to third-degree assault of a child in Thurston County Superior Court on Wednesday morning after he allegedly hit his 7-year-old son with a belt.
The man was arrested after an elementary school employee reported that the boy had extensive bruising on his buttocks, legs and ankles, and was in so much pain that he was unable to sit down in class, according to court documents. The child told Thurston County Sheriff’s deputies that he and his two brothers had been hit with a belt by their father because they didn’t go to sleep when they were supposed to.
Deputies also talked to the boy’s brother, who didn’t have any visible bruises. The brother said that his father decided that each boy would receive three slaps with a belt as punishment, but if the boys jumped, they would receive an extra slap. The brother said the 7-year-old jumped several times and received extra slaps, according to court documents.
Deputies contacted the father, who admitted to hitting his son with a belt, but said that he only hit the child on the buttocks and any marks elsewhere weren’t his fault, according to court documents. The man was arrested and later released on $2,500 bail.

Dad charged with 2nd-degree murder in brutal beating death of 8-month-old daughter; blamed baby's 2-year-old sister (King County, Washington)
Notice that the mother was stuck working a night shift--even with two young children and a baby. Wonder if this batterer and abusive father even had a job.
So much more could be done to help women escape from situations like this--starting with locking up batters BEFORE they kill somebody.
Dad is identified as AHMED IBRAHIM.

A Washington man has been charged with second-degree murder for beating his infant daughter to death with an X-Box controller, police say.
Authorities say Ahmed Ibrahim, 26, of Burien, smashed his 8-month-old daughter's skull on Monday and then tried to convince police that his two-year-old daughter was the one who killed the infant.
King County sheriff's deputies responded to the home Monday morning after receiving a call from the child's mother saying her baby wasn't breathing, KOMO News reports.
Deputies arrived to find the 8-month-old visibly battered with trauma to her head and her face distorted. The child was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy found the infant had multiple skull fractures and died from severe, blunt force trauma to her head and torso.
The medical examiner's office said it is 'highly unlikely' that a two-year-old caused such damage, according to The Seattle Times.
Seattle PI reports that Cecelia Gregson, senior deputy prosecutor, described the child's murder as 'brutal and sadistic' saying that Ibrahim 'viciously beat' the child.
The child's mother told authorities that she had left the infant and her two other children -- girls aged four and two -- in the care of her husband at 12.30am. She returned home from work at 10.30am and found Ibrahim lounging in a chair with the infant resting on his chest, Seattle PI reports.
She changed her clothes then went to pick up her baby only to find the child's face distorted and her body cold to the touch. She then rushed to a nearby relative's home for help.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators arrested Ibrahim and described him as being 'on something' saying his speech was slurred and he repeatedly nodded off.
Ibrahim described the infant as an 'aggressive child' and blamed the deceased 8-month-old for picking a fight with his two-year-old daughter who, he said, caused the infant's injuries by kicking and hitting her, KOMO News reports.
Investigators believe that the infant died shortly after Ibrahim beat her with an X-Box controller. Ibrahim denied drinking alcohol to police, but bottles of liquor were found in the home, Seattle PI reports. Ibrahim also denied abusing his children.
However, the child's mother confessed that Ibrahim has a history of beating both her and their three children, KOMO reports. He reportedly beat the children with cords and hangers often, and even forcefully squeezes their lips shut when they cry.
Ibrahim was arrested Monday and charged Thursday with second-degree murder. He is being held at the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent with bail set at $1 million.
So much more could be done to help women escape from situations like this--starting with locking up batters BEFORE they kill somebody.

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. -- A 20-year-old Bremerton man was arrested after his 3-month-old daughter died Sunday from brain injuries suffered as a result of shaken baby syndrome, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the baby had been left with the suspect, who was staying as a guest on Naval Base Kitsap - Bangor, on Friday while the baby's mother attended an event in Seattle.
The suspect told detectives he became frustrated over his child's crying, so he shook her and hit her in the forehead until she became unresponsive, according to the Sheriff's Office. He also reportedly said he tripped while walking to the couch and dropped the baby, who hit the ground very hard.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspect spent the next 90 minutes trying to "make it look like nothing happened" until he finally asked a neighbor for help.
A social worker at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital called the Sheriff's Office Saturday because she and doctors believed the child had sustained its injuries due to abuse.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the baby died Sunday from brain injuries, injuries an investigation determined were the result of shaken baby syndrome.
The suspect was arrested and booked into Kitsap County Jail.

Dad convicted of manslaughter in death of 2-month-old son (Everett, Washington)
Yet another case where Mom was forced back to work before the baby was even 3-months-old, and a short-tempered father with no nurturing skills was drafted to do "caretaking" in her place.
All of this profoundly opposed to the way humans and mammals have evolved. So the results are deadly and predictable. It is not an anomaly that fathers are the majority of perpetrators in shaken baby deaths. We need decent maternity leaves for moms NOW.
Dad is identified as BRIAN PEREZ REYES.

EVERETT — Daniel Levi Perez Reyes died in his mother's arms. He was a healthy, 2-month-old boy when he was left with his father on June 27, 2013, while his mother went to work. The next morning Daniel was brought to a hospital.
He wasn't breathing and didn't have a pulse. Doctors revived him but Daniel showed no signs of brain activity. He was removed from life support the next day.
Doctors suspected the worst. An autopsy confirmed the violence. The 13-pound baby had been violently shaken, causing injuries to the boy's brain, neck and the nerves to his diaphragm.
On Monday, a Snohomish County judge convicted the child's father of first-degree manslaughter. The evidence showed that Brian Perez Reyes was told multiple times that he was too rough with the child, Superior Court Judge Michael Downes said. Perez Reyes' reckless actions caused his son's death, the judge concluded.
Downes also ruled that Daniel's age made him a particularly vulnerable victim.
“This was an infant child, wholly helpless,” the judge said.
That means the defendant could face a much lengthier prison stay when he is sentenced next month. Prosecutors are expected to ask that Perez Reyes be sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Last month, in an unusual move, Perez Reyes, 24, agreed to skip a jury trial and asked Downes to render a verdict after reviewing the investigation.
