This case demands a thorough investigation, but will the Canadian officials come through? Don't bet the rent money just yet.
In the news account below, it's thoroughly evident that a seriously delusional and violent custodial father, JOCELYN MARCOUX, murdered his two children in an arson fire. All so he could retain custody (total control) of his two kids. According to the article, Mom wasn't even looking for full custody. She was looking for "access" (i.e. visitation). It used to be that the more moderate-sounding fathers rights groups publicly pushed "shared custody" as their solution to all their problems.
Now we know better. As fathers rights groups have become increasingly militant and right-wing, and increasingly infiltrated with batterers and common criminals, they push TOTAL PATRIARCHAL CONTROL. That means no contact with Mom unless they happen to feel like it. That means murdering the kids is perfectly justified too, just as it was in the days of the Roman Empire. Afterall, children are nothing but chattel, nothing but property to these dudes.
And it VERY MUCH SOUNDS like this fruitcake was in contact with fathers' rights people. Do the authorities really believe he developed his so-called "manifesto" in total isolation? The phony delusions of male victimhood, of "oppression" at the hands of the family courts (when this piece of merde had custody!). Who was encouraging this father to think it was "okay" for fathers "to take justice into your own hands?" (which apparently translates into burning your children alive, unless he kindly shot them or slit their throats before hand like JOSH POWELL. ) Who was advising him to never "give up"?
This wouldn't be the first time that a fathers rights group and taken a father who was already mentally ill, and encouraged his delusions and paranoia to the point of murder and/or suicide.
And if you go to the link below, you'll see that the fathers rights apologists are already piling on and justifying this killer's actions. This slimeball is already being deified as some sort of martyr to the cause. Sick, sick, sick.
Quebec father and two children found dead in suspicious fire
Jan Ravensbergen, The Gazette : Tuesday, July 10, 2012 10:38 AM
MONTREAL – Three bodies were found early Tuesday morning after a suspicious blaze destroyed a family garage in Warwick, a town 150 kilometres northeast of Montreal
The deaths may be the result of a double slaying and suicide resulting from a child-custody dispute.
Sgt. Richard Gagné of the Sûreté du Québec said the provincial force had been called by local firefighters about 3 a.m.
Gagné said he couldn't immediately confirm that the dead are Lindsey Brillant-Marcoux, a boy; Karen Brillant-Marcoux, a girl; and Jocelyn Marcoux, their father.
Their mother, understood to be Nadine Brillant, was reportedly on the way from the Quebec City region to the scene.
Such arrangements were being handled "not at my level," the spokesperson said.
The Sûreté du Québec is running the investigation.
The death scene is at the rear of a home on Richardson St., near du Moulin St.
Although police have not confirmed the victims' names, phone records show that principal occupant of the residence where the bodies were found is Jocelyn Marcoux.
Family Court records show that Marcoux broke up with Nadine Brillant, his wife of four years, in 2006. She then moved to Quebec City with her new boyfriend.
Brillant posted on Facebook on Tuesday morning that she’d heard on TV about a fire in Warwick on the street where her ex-husband and her children lived, and hoped everything is okay.
An hour later she posted again that she’d learned from television that her former husband and her children were dead. “My ex has killed my children. I am crushed,” she wrote. Marcoux’s Facebook page contained an angry diatribe posted overnight against the Family Court system. According to his post, he feared he was about to lose custody of his children.
He identified the dead children as Lindsey and Karen Brillant-Marcoux.
Marcoux’s public manifesto alleges he had custody of the two children but that his ex-wife was fighting for access in a battle that pitted child welfare authorities in Quebec City and the Bois Franc region against each other.
According to his post – to which a supporter commented: “Don’t give up” – a judge was on the verge of giving the children’s mother and her new partner access after a three-year separation.
Marcoux complained, in a letter punctuated by repeated use of exclamation marks, that his ex’s lawyer had filed a motion for custody “in the middle of the school year,” which caused “my son to lose his year and also (created) problems with the grades of my daughter.”
Later, he rages: “I swear, by my father's heart, that my children will never be mistreated ever again, not even with the blessing of a hypocrite judge.”
He adds: “For fathers, it’s official: If you don’t take justice into your own hands, you’ll never have justice.”
