Dad charged with murder of 2-year-old son blocks grandparents from having funeral (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina)

Dad JONATHAN KATAN has been charged with the murder of his 2-year-old son. But he still has enough "rights" to keep the grandparents from burying the child and providing a decent funeral. For shame that a killer can keep everybody dancing to his tune. We previously posted about this case here:

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The grandparents of a 2-year-old child who was killed in Montgomery, AL, say they aren't legally allowed to bury their grandson.

Police in Montgomery say Preston Katan died in February when his father found the child unresponsive, cold, and wedged between a mattress and a crib.

Jonathan Katan, the 2-year-old's father, has since been arrested for the child's murder; however, he refuses to sign away his rights for the burial because he wants a second autopsy performed on his son. Police say an initial autopsy performed revealed the boy died from blunt force injuries to the head.

"According to the autopsy and the forensic pathologist, if the baby would have dove off the top bunk there was no way that the baby could have sustained the blunt force trauma that he did receive to the head," Ed Chermak, the baby's grandfather, said.

Preston Katan is the son of Danielle Chermak, a graduate of Soccastee High School.
