Dad on "no bail" warrant for domestic violence abandons kids (Sonoma, California)
Dad LUIS HUMBERTO PEREZ was pulled over on a traffic stop after a deputy thought he recognized him as a man wanted on a "no bail" warrant for domestic violence. Perez presented what turned out to be a fraudulent driver's license, and after the deputy returned to his vehicle to look into the matter, Daddy Dearest took off on foot, leaving his 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter in the backseat of the car. Now he's facing multiple charges, including child endangerment.

Wanted man abandons children
Deputies are still searching for a man who probably won't be considered for "Father of the Year" after he fled the scene leaving his two small children behind, when he was pulled over by a deputy on March 7.
According to Sgt. Dave Pedersen, of the sheriff's Valley substation, at about 10:50 a.m. that day, a deputy saw a wanted subject driving and made an enforcement stop in the vicinity of Sonoma Highway and Thomson Avenue. The deputy thought he recognized the man as Luis Humberto Perez, 54, of Mexico. The deputy knew Perez had a "no bail" warrant for domestic violence and initiated a traffic stop to investigate. When the deputy contacted Perez, the man denied being the wanted subject and presented the deputy with what was later found to be a fraudulent driver's license from the state of Washington. It was learned the license was valid in Washington under the name of a real person, but it had Perez's photograph on it.
As the deputy talked with Perez, he saw a 6-year-old boy and a 3-year-old girl, in the backseat of the vehicle. It was later learned the children belonged to Perez. The deputy returned to his vehicle to try to confirm Perez's identity and compare his likeness with a photograph of the wanted person.
As the deputy stood at his patrol car, Perez took off running northbound on Sonoma Highway through a parking lot and disappeared into a nearby neighborhood. Since the deputy could not abandon the children, he stayed with them and radioed for assistance in locating the suspect.
After an extensive search by 11 members of the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office, and utilizing air support by Sonoma County Sheriff's helicopter "Henry One," Perez was not located. Perez is currently wanted for using false documents to conceal identity, a felony; identity theft, a felony; two counts of child endangerment, both felonies; resisting or delaying a peace officer, a misdemeanor; and false identification to a peace officer, a misdemeanor.
Further investigation revealed that Perez has 31 aliases and 17 dates of birth he has used in the past.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Luis Humberto Perez is asked to call the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office at 565-2121 or call 9-1-1.
