SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE
The father of a 3-week old west suburban Cicero girl who died Saturday of blunt head trauma has been charged with her murder.
Cicero town spokesman Ray Hanania said the father of the little girl, Liliana Galvez, has been charged early Monday with her murder.
Hanania, who said he did not have the man’s name immediately, said more details would be released at a press conference at 10:30 a.m. at Cicero Town Hall, 4949 W. 22nd St. in the community room.
A Sunday autopsy revealed Liliana, of 1636 S. 50th Ct. in Cicero, died from blunt head trauma caused by child abuse and ruled the death a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Emergency officials were called to the home about 2 p.m. Saturday and treated the baby they found there, but eventually pronounced the infant dead at the scene, Cicero town spokesman Ray Hanania said.
Liliana was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m. Saturday, the medical examiner’s office said.
She was initially found unresponsive by her parents, who are both 19 years old, sources said.
Adults at the home initially told police they sleep late and the baby would normally wake them up, but that the baby did not wake them up Saturday, Hanania said. The mother lived at the home with the infant, but it wasn’t immediately clear how other family members who lived there were related to them, Hanania said.
