Man gets life sentence for causing baby daughter's death
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
A 31-year-old Las Vegas man accused of causing the death of his baby daughter in May 2008 was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 10 years.
Issac Hill reached a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty in January to second-degree murder in connection with the death of his 5-month-old daughter, Zamani. He was originally charged with first-degree murder by child abuse.
Authorities said the girl had multiple fractures of her skull and bruising in various stages of healing when she first received medical treatment May 5, 2008. Three days later Zamani was removed from life-sustaining equipment.
Doctors told investigators the baby had suffered from hemorrhages caused by her skull injury.
Zamani was in her father's care the day she was taken to the hospital, authorities said.
