Man held guilty for triple murder

The Lucknow district court on Wednesday held a man guilty for murdering his two daughters and father-in-law in Gosaiganj area in 2004. The court fixed January 12 to pronounce the quantum of punishment for Ram Pratap. On November 27, 2004, Ram Pratap turned himself to the Gosaiganj police station and declared having killed his two daughters from his first wife —Savitri (18) and Sudha (10) — and their grandfather Sabjit the previous night. Police found the bodies from the house of his first wife Madhvi and the murder weapon ( gandasa) . Three eyewitnesses who had testified before the cour — Madhvi and two relatives Ram Pher and Jai Singh — said they were too scared to act since Ram Pratap was armed. Police said the motive behind the crime was property. Since Sabjit did not have any son, he had transferred his three bigha land to his grand daughters. Ram Pratap had been lodged in the Lucknow district jail the incident.
