Dad strangles mom, burns her to death in front of 3 children (Cape Flats, South Africa)

Dad MATHEMBA FOBO has been arrested for strangling his wife, the mother of their 3 children, then burning down the house while she was still inside. He did all this in front of their 3 children. The brave little 9-year-old son tried to stop his father with a hammer, but he was overpowered. (No doubt the fathers rights people would say that the son's actions prove he was "alienated" from the father.)

Three Cape Flats children watched helplessly as their father allegedly strangled their mother and burnt their home down.

Yesterday Nomalibongwe Fobo, 37, died in her Masiphumelele home after her husband allegedly set their house alight while she was still inside.

Her children Wendy, 12, Siphuxolo, nine, and Likhona Fobo, five, couldn't do anything but watch as their mother died an agonising death.

Nomalibongwe's aunt Noncedo Futshane, 52, says little Siphuxolo tried in vain to stop his father Mathemba Fobo but he was overpowered.

'Wendy, help me my child'
"Siphuxolo tried to hit his father with a hammer but he wouldn't stop strangling Nomalibongwe," she says.

Wendy says her mother kept on calling out: "Wendy, help me my child."

Ocean View cop Nkosikho Mzuku says they were called out at about 1.30am yesterday.

"We arrested a 49-year-old man for murder and arson after he burned his wife to death," he says. - Daily Voice
