Police: Infant dies after assault by father

CLYDE -- An infant died Wednesday at Toledo Children's Hospital, a day after what police alleged was abuse from his father.
KC Goble, 22, had a video arraignment Wednesday before Judge John Kolesar in Clyde County Court on a felonious assault charge, a second-degree felony. No bail was set, and Goble remains in Sandusky County jail. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 21.
Clyde police Sgt. Mark Roach said there was obvious abuse of 2-month-old Preston Goble. The two month old was removed from mechanical life support and died moments later.
A news release from the Clyde police Department says an autopsy is scheduled at the Lucas County Coroner's Office today.
"The child has significant injuries," Roach said Wednesday before news spread about Preston Goble's death.
Police arrived at 1173 South Main St., Apt. 302, at 10:43 a.m. Tuesday and found Preston Goble not breathing. The child's mother, Danielle Myers, 21, and father Goble were home at the time.
Instead of waiting for an ambulance, Clyde police administered CPR and put the infant in a cruiser and drove him to Bellevue Hospital. He was later flown to Toledo Children's Hospital.
Sheriff's deputies, who also responded and received the initial call reporting an unresponsive child, transported the mother to the hospital, reports say.
"She's not well," Roach said.
Sandusky County Prosecutor Tom Stierwalt is reviewing the case for possible additional charges. He could not be reached for comment.
The news release says the case will be presented to a Sandusky County Grand Jury Jan. 19.
