ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- A man from Rolla received a 46-month federal prison sentence on Thursday for possession of child pornography. Allen May, 24, pleaded guilty last Sept. 8 to three counts.

In a separate unrelated case, May's father received a 41-month prison sentence last November. James May, 51, of Rolla pleaded guilty on Sept. 3 for five counts of posession of child pornography.

The U.S. attorney's office said the cases are part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. Federal, state and local law enforcement officers work together to prosecute people who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
