ROCK HILL, SC (WBTV) - Police are investigating a second case of child abuse against a four-month-old in York County, police said Tuesday. The baby was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte Monday.

The father was accused of "shaking the baby," the York County Sheriff's Office said. The infant was listed as being in serious condition.

Police charged Michael Cardiff of Gaulden Park Drive in Rock Hill with unlawful neglect of child, authorities said. The York County Sheriff is investigating the incident.

Another 4-month-old, Savannah Sweatt, died late last week after being beaten by her dad, police said. Police said the Sweatt case is not related to the Cardiff case.

Police arrested a man over the weekend and charged him with homicide by child abuse. Curtis Sweatt, 26, is in the York County Jail under no bond.

The Sweatt child was pronounced dead at the hospital Friday morning.
