Update: Dad to be arraigned on murder charge in baby's death (Battle Creek, Michigan)

We've posted on this case before. With the death of the 5-month-old baby, charges against dad SHAWN BELANO BROWN SR. are expected to change from child abuse to open murder.

Young boy dies, father a suspect

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A five-month-old boy has died and his father is the main suspect.

Police say that 5-month-old Shawn Belano Brown Jr. was taken to the hospital on Friday. The boy's father says that he was feeding him and he started choking.

Doctors who treated the child think that the boy was a victim of child abuse. They say that he had injuries which were the result of being shaken.

The baby's father, Shawn Delano Brown Sr., was arrested Friday on a child abuse charge. Police say that they are now requesting that he face a charge of open murder.

An autopsy will be performed Monday at Sparrow Hospital to determine the exact cause of death.

The boys' father is expected to be arraigned for the open murder charge Tuesday afternoon.
