Convicted Child Killer Gets His Sentence

Omaha - A judge sentences 25-year-old Joleet Poole to 22 to 24 years behind bars for killing a one-year-old boy.

Escorted by deputies in handcuffs and shakles, Poole walks into a Douglas County courtroom to hear his sentence Monday morning.

He's convicted of child abuse resulting in the death of one-year-old Davion Windrow. In September 2007 little Davion died of a skull fracture at the hands of Poole.

The county attorney says Poole had intended to adopt Davion, and had been visiting or watching the boy. The DHHS says Poole was not a licensed foster parent, but at the time of the incident he had an active application.

Court records show Poole's been violent before. When he was 8-years-old he stabbed another youngster.

Poole has already served 657 days of his sentence.
