Dad stabs pregnant ex-girlfriend to death (Fayetteville, Arkansas)
RICKY RAY ANDERSON is awaiting trial in the stabbing death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend. The girlfriend had a restraining order against Anderson, and he had broken into her apartment before. The police failed to notify her when they released him from jail. The girlfriend called the police when she saw Anderson in the parking lot with a knife, but the police apparently failed to arrive in time. For once we have a perceptive, not a clueless, neighbor quoted: "he [Anderson] was really, really angry because she didn't want anything to do with him, you know, and she was pregnant with his child and it was kind of like, 'oh, if I can't have our child then neither can you." Got that right, girlfriend.

Friends of a Fayetteville woman stabbed to death in her apartment Friday night say there's more to the story than what authorities are reporting.
A suspect is in custody and awaiting trial for his alleged connection to the death of 26-year-old Jill Lynn Ulmer.Ulmer's neighbors at the Rasberry Apartment Complex in Fayetteville say they saw their friend for the last time around 7:00 Friday night. Kindra Mavis is Ulmer's neighbor and friend, and says, that night, "she seemed like she was in a really good mood. She was pregnant, so she was kinda not feeling very well, you know, but she seemed like everything was fine." But Mavis says everything wasn't fine; she says Ulmer feared her ex-boyfriend, Ricky Ray Anderson. "For sure, yeah, he was the dad. And even though they had broken up, she was happy with that." Ulmer may have been "happy," but Mavis says she still had a restraining order against 41-year-old Anderson. "She just said, if you see him or anybody come over here who's associated with him, you call the cops, so she was scared of him." After Anderson broke into her apartment once, friends say Ulmer had some peace knowing he was in jail. Mavis says, "Washington County should have contacted her and said 'hey, this guy's out of jail and he may hurt you.' So that's what's upsetting the most to me; she wasn't notified."
Reports show Ulmer called police around 10:30 Friday night. They say she said her ex-boyfriend was violating a protection order and was in the parking lot, walking towards her apartment. When police arrived on the scene, they say they heard Ulmer screaming, and say they saw Anderson in her apartment, armed with a knife and making stabbing motions towards her. Mavis says, "he was really, really angry because she didn't want anything to do with him, you know, and she was pregnant with his child and it was kind of like, 'oh, if I can't have our child then neither can you. Her mother has to deal with this every single day of her life, and not only one loss! Two!" Ulmer's neighbors say as Ulmer's death sinks in, moving on mentally, will be impossible. Sarah Sparkman is Ulmer's downstairs neighbor: "you hear somebody murdered and you're living in that place, I mean, you're going to remember that. It stays with you." At this time police have not confirmed or denied Ulmer's neighbor's story of how and why they believe this crime occurred. Reports state detectives are viewing this as a "death investigation," and they're sending Ulmer's body to the State Crime Lab for further research. Anderson is being held in the Washington County Detention Center, without bond, on charges of second degree murder. His first court appearance is set for July 27th.
