Dad indicted in death of 3-year-old daughter during visitation, her mother (Winter Haven, Florida)

We've posted on this case several times over the past few years. Notice that it has taken three years for Dad LESTER ROSS, JR to even be indicted for these murders.

Here is the last of those posts.

What is hinted at in this article--but not made explicit--is that the murder of the little girl took place during Daddy's out-of-state visitation (Mom lived in Georgia). Dad kept refusing to return the girl, and that's when Mom came down to Florida to investigate. That's when Daddy "allegedly" killed her.

Here's what we said before:

It appears that the 3-year-old daughter was visiting her father and his wife when she was "accidentally" killed in May 2009. According to the the wife, dad LESTER ROSS then stored the body for months in a deep freezer. The mom, who lived in Georgia, apparently grew impatient with all of Daddy's "months of excuses" regarding the child's disappearance, so she drove to Winter Haven, Florida to investigate in October 2009. It was her insistence that apparently caused the father to "silence" (murder) her as well. It then appears that Daddy put both bodies in the trunk of his car, drove them to an orange grove, and buried them. The bodies were discovered just recently.

Despite the wife's story, Ross has yet to be charged.

Of course, there is another issue here that has been rendered totally invisible. Why was this preschooler visiting a father who lived out of state? Was this court-ordered or what? Was there previous evidence that this guy was violent and abusive, evidence that was ignored when a tiny girl was ordered to visit him anyway? Or did Mom agree to informal visitation, perhaps with the hope of avoiding a custody "battle"? As very often happens the spector of custody/visitation lurks behind a double murder, and the media utterly fails to take notice.

2:58 p.m. EST, December 14, 2012

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) — A Central Florida man has been indicted in the deaths of his 3-year-old daughter and her mother, two years after their skeletons were found in an orange grove.

The remains of Ronkeya Holmes and her daughter MaSarah Ross were found in a Winter Haven orange grove in December 2010.

MaSarah's father, Lester Ross Jr., was charged Thursday with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter.

Ross has been held without bond since 2010 on a related witness-tampering charge.

Police tell The Ledger MaSarah died in 2009 while with Ross, who kept her body in a freezer for months until Holmes arrived to check on the girl.

Police say Ross poisoned Holmes and buried the woman with MaSarah.

A message left Friday for Ross' attorney was not immediately returned
