Dad indicted in baby daughter's death Christopher Jimenez accused of beating daughter

PROVIDENCE, R.I., (WPRI) -- A Providence County Grand Jury Friday handed up a murder indictment against a father accused of beating to death his 8-week-old daughter.
Police arrested Christopher Jimenez, 26, in June after his newborn daughter was t aken to Hasbro Children's Hospital with several broken bones and traumatic brain injury.
The child succumbed to her injuries and was taken off of life support a few weeks later. The grand jury charged Jimenez with two counts of first-degree child abuse and one count of second-degree murder.
During a previous court appearance, it took prosecutors nearly 30 seconds to list of baby Christina's injuries.
"Doctors diagnosed her with a traumatic brain injury. She had four skull fractures, at least 25 rib fractures. She had a healing fracture of her pubic bone, a right femur fracture, a right distal femur fracture. She had a distal tibia fracture, proximal tibia fracture said Shannon Signore, Special Assistant Attorney General. “Also she had multiple fractures to her fingers and toes.”
Jimenez has been held without bail since his arrest. He is due for arraignment in Superior Court Jan. 2, 2013.
The child's mother, Mayra Gonzalez, 18, was also arrested and is facing charges of felony neglect.
