Dad kills mom, 8-year-old son in murder-suicide; abandons 2-year old at the scene (Wellsburg, West Viriginia)

Police say dad ABRAHAM ALLEN murdered his wife and 8-year-old son, before offing himself. Their 2-year-old child was abandoned--alive--at the scene.

Of course, none of the neighbors saw anything amiss. That's the problem. Neighbors no longer really talk to each other, or really look beyond surface appearances. That's one reason these women are never believed when they try to leave and protect themselves and their children--I mean how could such a "nice guy" (who actually sounds like a weird loner to me, given that he "works" in the basement) want to kill anybody? His wife must be crazy or delusional. And then when the "nice guy" slaughters people, nobody can believe it. Barf.

The media would do much better to interview people who really understand the dynamics of murder-suicide, rather than the clueless neighbors. Of course the ignorant neighbors saw nothing--they weren't looking and they wouldn't recognize the warning signs if they were staring them in the face. The fact is that many, if not most, of these guys are narcissistic control freaks from way back.

WELLSBURG -- Residents of Wellsburg are still in shock Thursday after learning of the brutal murder-suicide that took the lives of 31-year-old Melinda Nicole Brown Allen and her 8-year-old son Ethan.

Neighbors spoke out about this tragedy.

"It makes you stop and think about who your neighbors are and what they are really like," resident of Wellsburg Josie Diserio said.

Josie and Moe Diserio have been living in Wellsburg for the past 50 years. They live across the street from where victim Melinda Nicole Brown Allen and the alleged suspect Abraham Allen lived with their two children. The Diserio’s said they watched Melinda grow up in 2103 Maple Ave. in Wellsburg, where the murder took place.

"The family moved here. I’m not sure what year Melinda was. We watched Melinda grow up, have her first baby and I even had a baby shower for her," Josie Diserio said.

The Diserio's said they knew the family very well. They talked to Melinda and Abraham often and saw the kids play outside frequently. Family functions brought both households together.

"We've shared birthdays, their children my grandchildren. We just together in Weirton the first week of August for a birthday,” Josie mentioned.

Josie said she is in absolute shock. Everyone seemed like they got along well and nothing seemed suspicious. They seemed like a normal family.

The Diserio's told 7 News Melinda was a nurse's aide and Abraham worked on computers in the basement of their home.

"My husband was over there Tuesday talking with him. Abraham had a tea towel around his neck and had potatoes cooking. Everything seemed fine," Josie said.

Josie’s husband, Moe Diserio, did not want to be interviewed but told 7 News off camera he did notice something unusual Wednesday. He said he would see Abraham taking the other victim, 8-year-old Ethan to school every morning and would see Melinda pulling in from work every night, then take Ethan to football practice. However, Moe said no movement was seen Wednesday.

Meantime, Josie said she does not know when she will get over this tragedy.

"I don’t think I’ll be normal for awhile. It really upset me and I was up until three in the morning. I don’t know why things like this happen,” Josie commented.

The Diserio's also told 7 News the 2-year-old found in the house where the murder took place is staying with his grandmother. She is the mother of Melinda.
