Dad charged in drowning death of 6-month-old daughter (Aurora, Colorado)

Dad GREGORY SCOTT WITHERSPOON has been charged with child abuse resulting in death. His 6-month-old daughter drowned in the bathtub last summer while the babysitting Dad left her unattended.

Father Charged In 2009 Infant Bathtub Drowning

AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) The father of a child who drowned in a bathtub last June in Aurora has been charged with child abuse resulting in death.

Aurora police said Gregory Scott Witherspoon, 27, told officers he left his 6-month-old daughter, Ci'Area Taylor-Witherspoon, unattended in the bathtub with her 2-year-old brother.

"When he returned he found the infant had slid out of her bath seat and into the tub water. The mother, Claudia Taylor, was not at home at the time of the incident," Det. Shannon Youngquist Lucy said in a prepared statement.

Witherspoon is currently being held in the Arapahoe County Jail.
