Dad sentenced for battery of 8-month-old daughter (Indianapolis, Indiana)

Dad DAVID M. LIKENS has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for battering his then 8-month-old daughter, who had multiple bone fractures. Seems Daddy was involved in molesting a 3-year-old girl as a 12-year-old boy too. What were the real chances this kind of kid would turn around, really?

An Indianapolis man involved in a notorious abuse case as an adolescent has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for battery on his infant daughter.

David M. Likens, 21, was convicted of battery last month by Judge Robert Altice at a bench trial. Altice sentenced him Wednesday.

Likens was arrested after his then-8-month-old daughter, Shayla, suffered bone fractures on her legs, a forearm and two ribs, police said. His wife, Dina L. Williams, 20, has pleaded guilty to neglect and awaits sentencing April 7.

When Likens was 12, he and two older brothers took turns molesting a 3-year-old girl in August 2001 in their mobile home on the Southwestside.
