INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - An Indianapolis father faces battery charges after police say he threw a 9-year-old boy to the ground following a basketball game.
Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance call Tuesday at Robey Elementary School after several people allegedly saw 46-year-old Dana R. Forte get into an altercation with the boy. Police say Forte was on hand to watch the victim play in a basketball game.
Police met with the victim’s mother who alleged Forte grabbed the boy by the arm and threw him to the ground, yelling that “he was going to kick his (expletive).”
According to the police report, officers spoke with Forte who said he had his arm around the boy trying to console him for losing the game. Forte told officers the boy was trying to struggle free of his grasp so he grabbed hold of the boy’s shirt collar. He explained that he placed the boy on the ground in an attempt to control him.
Forte is charged with battery and was issued a criminal trespassing citation from the school.
