Dad on trial for murdering mom; 5-year-old son found body (New Tredigar, South Wales, United Kingdom)

Dad BRIAN LEWIS is on trial for murdering the mother of his children. The 5-year-old has provided a heart-breaking testimony about finding his mum dead and bloodied on the floor. A sickening reminder that violence against a mom is always a violation of her children, too.

Son, 5, found 'murdered' mother

Hayley Jones 'wouldn't wake up,' her son, Kian Lewis, five, told the court

The five-year-old son of a man accused of murdering his partner has told a jury how he found his mother's body on the floor of their family living room.

Kian Lewis said it "all went quiet" after his father Brian Lewis, 31, rowed with mother-of-four Hayley Jones, 26.

Mr Lewis, of New Tredegar, Caerphilly county, denies stabbing and strangling Ms Jones after she changed her Facebook status from "married" to "single".

He wept as Kian gave evidence by a video link at Cardiff Crown Court.

The court has heard Kian was in bed as he heard his parents arguing downstairs and was sitting on the top of the stairs with brother Jordan, seven, when he heard his mother screaming: "No Charlie, no Charlie, I love you."

The court was told he then heard it go quiet before his father called the police to say: "I have killed my girlfriend."

Kian said: "I called if I could go for a wee. There was no answer so we went downstairs and saw mam lying on the floor.

Sobbed

"There was blood in her mouth and on her T-shirt. I was pushing her but she wouldn't wake up."
The prosecution alleges Mr Lewis attacked his partner with a kitchen knife in the middle of the night as she was sleeping on the settee at their home.

It is claimed then dialled 999 and told police to come to the house but fled the scene, leaving the couple's four children - aged from three to 10 - to find their mother's body, before giving himself up.

Mr Lewis was handed tissues by court staff as he sobbed during his son's video evidence.

The court has heard Mr Lewis accused his partner of chatting up other men online just an hour before he allegedly attacked her.

The jury has heard that he had earlier told his drinking friends that if he could not have her, no-one else would, because "I'd kill her first".

The couple had been together since Ms Jones was 13.

The court has heard they never married but regarded themselves as husband and wife.

She changed her Facebook status 10 days before she died.

Mr Lewis denies murder. The trial continues.
